OMG!!! i got quake 3 ce running on my x51v!!!
The trick: DO NOT download version 1.1b, download 1.1a at this link: http://www.noctemware.com/download_f...v4-ppc2003.zip free as much memory as possible & this should be the only running app.
They said it couldnt be done.
P.S you can download the Q3A demo & use the pakconvert to make the pak file
its kinda slow, but maybe we could optimize it somehow, be patient on loading

Testing out right now.
BTW, if it's slow (Though anything above 12 fps is surely doable), you can try and customize just how pakconvert converts the .pak file.

Sent. for some bizzare reason, i get an error message only when wisbar 2 is not running... im assuming that WA2 has a registry or something that enables something in q3ce. also, i get the same error if i did not put the libGLES_CM.dll file in the q3ce directory. but libGLES_CM.dll is for unaccelerated handhelds... thats probably why im getting 2fps
EDIT!!!
Duh, i downloaded the unaccelerated version.. download the accelerated version at this link: http://www.noctemware.com/download_f...0v-ppc2003.zip DO NOT use the pakconvert from version 1.1, download 1.1b & use the pakconvert from that version.

Okay, got it working from that package...
At 30.2 MB free RAM, it's currently loading okay...
BTW, once it does load, it runs at a decent framerate? Damn I gotta get pocketpctechs to double my RAM.
Edit: How long is it supposed to take to load??? I'm sitting on a half an hour here.

1/2 hour? it takes me 5 minutes. there seems to be a bug in the console, watch the console when it says "Preparing hunk memory" and "preparing large memory zone". if it pauses at both of them for about 30 seconds, itll load but if it doesnt it wont. it seems to be random, but framratewise, using a optimized cfg file, i got 11 fps but at least it running slowly is better than not running at all. Ive heard Crioux saying "the next version will have an automatic setup" so im guessing a new versions coming. but this is the best ive got so far.

Yeah, that was with a what I thought was a converted pak file with 1.1b, but I reconverted it and now it loads in about 5 minutes. Although, I couldn't actually start a game...

Hi, I was just reading this thread, looking for instructions.
Do you need Linux running on the desktop to get it to work? I've got Cygwin installed and the pakconvert.sh shell-script doesn't execute properly, throwing dozens of errors.
|
Code:
|
David@bluebox ~/Desktop/q3ce-1.1b-release-aximx50v-ppc2003/q3ce-1.1b-release-aximx50v-ppc2003/pakconvert
$ bash ./pakconvert.sh "/cygdrive/c/Program Files/id/Quake III Arena"
./pakconvert.sh: line 9: [: too many arguments
./pakconvert.sh: line 15: [: too many arguments
d:\Users\David\Desktop\q3ce-1.1b-release-aximx50v-ppc2003\q3ce-1.1b-release-aximx50v-ppc2003\pakconvert\mkdir.exe (1592): *** proc magic mismatch detected - 0x704D1F7E/0xD94C588A.
This problem is probably due to using incompatible versions of the cygwin DLL.
Search for cygwin1.dll using the Windows Start->Find/Search facility
and delete all but the most recent version. The most recent version *should*
reside in x:\cygwin\bin, where 'x' is the drive on which you have
installed the cygwin distribution. Rebooting is also suggested if you
are unable to find another cygwin DLL. |
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
EDIT: Ah, I didn't see the Bash executable in the pakconvert directory, nevermind
...but now I keep getting "Insufficient memory" errors and I can't start it (even after ending all other programs)

So 1.1 UNaccelerated version works using the 1.1B PakConvert?
1.1B Accelerated version does NOT work? right?
I downloaded both 1.1 and 1.1B. I haven't tried it yet but we'll see. Wonder if they can install a "Frame Skip" like in emulators. It might be a little jerky but responsive. Still sweet stuff. I knew it would work eventually.
I wonder if multiplayer works?
