If all you really want is NES, then those others are OK, but YAMEce is my favorite...

I don't have the link handy, but when I found it before I did a search for "yamece download" and it was the first or second.. Oh, hold on..

http://www.angelfire.com/games4/techmage.c....com/TMTFF.html

It's there...

You copy it over to your Axim, and a few *.nes files.. (I can't tell you where to find them, but they are around...)..

P.S. Choose YameCe for ARM....
First time you run YAMEce, it's in Japanese, but the 2nd menu and first or second pull down will show English.. Choose it!!!

Then it's just FILE OPEN and load your rom..

It's great for NES and Gameboy.. It does SNES, but BADLY!! SLOW!! I've had no luck with it's TG16 emulation at all.. But for SMB1, 2, and 3?? Tetris.nes?? Great!!!

Hi! I would like to buy a PDA and I think it will be Dell Axim.
As a vivid gamer I have many of emulators and games in my PC and would like to have plenty of emulators in my PDA. I've downloaded dozens of PocketPC/Arm emulators for NES, Sega etc but I don't know whether they are working on Axim.
Can you test some?
First, there is a good Spectrum ZX emulator Pocket Clive. You can download it at
http://pocketclive.emuunlim.com/
You can find games at
www.worldofspectrum.org
they are free as Amstrad, a copyright holder, allows them to be used in emulators. There are thousand of games for Spectrum! And someone can recall that golden days...
Can you test it on your Axims? If it is OK I would hurry to buy Axim :P
Then, SNES games are slow? Do you have 300 or 400 MHz?

GBA is basically unplayable at this time.
SNES is not too slow as long as you like games like RPGs. I haven't tried any games that require alot of speed yet. But the developer of PocketSNES Bleeding Edge is continuously doing updates. It is based off of the PC emulator SNES9X.

Not really. The PPCs are just too slow now. It is difficult to get even SNES to run at a decent speed, much less GBA.

Have you ever tried to complete the Pseudogame in YameCE??

You know when you run it, it has those ships coming at you and you can play.. sort of.. You hit the start button and your ships starts firing, and then the massive wave of return volleys come at you.... Flooding the screen....

Well, I was just wondering..

So I tried it a few more times.. and then, I did pretty good.. I mean, I killed all but 2 of them, and then died in the flurry of bullets.. But I started looking at it.. If I could just kill the last 2 and dodge the next 2 seconds of bullet storm, it would get really easy to dodge the remaining bullets.. So I tried a few (well...:-) more times, and found my strategy!!!!

Killed them all and dodged the bullets.. 20,000 point bonus!!!! At one point I got 80,000, which I think is the best possible score.. I scored 60,000 a few times, but was killed by a bullet.. So I think 60K + 20K bonus is it.. After that, it resets..

Now, it's not an incredible game or anything.. Is any of this interesting or usefull?? Well, not really, but boy did that bring back the feeling of getting my first Perfect Stage on Galaga.

Well it depends on your definition of 'work' ;) If you mean whether there's an engine out there that would load the ROM, show you the graphics and plays the sound... yes... Morphgear would be what you're looking for. Although we're really using the term 'work' loosely Cuz what you're getting is basically a pretty slide show!

The author of morphgear says he's working on an optimized version for the XScale, which will be released in a while... but heck, definitions like 'while' are all subjective! So I'm not holding my breath here.. in the mean time, GBC ROMs look good on the AX ;)

I looked at the specs of GBA:
- 32-Bit ARM with embedded memory
- 32 Kbyte cache + 96 Kbyte VRAM (in CPU), 256 Kbyte WRAM (external of CPU)

In terms of proc power and cache, I think our Ax can handle it pretty well... its just the grafx stuff that we might not be able to handle. I really hope the optimization would at least make the games playable tho... I don't mind sacrificing some sound/ or a few dropped frames.
