EverQuest PPC Episode 3 Crashes!!

I have the Axim x5-300 and all three episodes of EverQuest for the Pocket PC (EQPPC) loaded on a non-ScanDisk (Lexmar) 32-mb CF card. I have played thru and finished EQPPC 1 & 2, my problem is with EQPPC 3!
Whenever I start up EQPPC 3, it makes it to the title screen then it crashes back to the Axim Today Screen. I have done soft reset after soft reset.
I have uninstalled and re-installed it, but to no avail - it crashes rather than play! What can I do to get it to play?

Please Help

I haven't started episode 3 yet. The other 2 run fine off my SD card. Have you tried installing directly to your Axim?

How much space is left on the CF card after the install?
Sound like you may be running out of memory there as well...

Game may require a bit of space to write to files while you are playing it...

If you went through episode 2, then could you tell me how to get the map needed to go inside blackburrow, and where the guard forces in the plains of karana?

I have 8mb free on the CF, 22mb free on the SD & 5.5mb free on the main.

(1) there is only the guard commander in the plains of karana and he is found right outside Qeynos on the road leading to the central plains
(2) to get the map (key really) to blackburrow, you have to go to Surefall Glade (2 maps north of the city)

Haqve you tried freeing up more of the main memory? I have had trouble running games in the past because there was not enough program memory available.

The reason I ask is because I had the same symptoms with the software before I dumped the crappy SD card I had. I now run it fine on a Lexar SD. I believe the problem was that it had trouble accessing data on the card. I'd try it on the SD card and see if it has the same problem. Cheryl's advice is also pretty sound...

The guard in the plains of Karana, is he the guy that asks for the elephant hides? In the western plains? Next to a farm and a guard tower?

No, he isn't the right guy. But if I remember correctly, you are on the right track. I think he is on the same map or the next one. Sorry, it has been awhile since I played this episode.

I just did a "hard reset" and will re-install EQPPC 1, 2 & 3 on the SD card to see if that helps.

If I decide to apply the new A05 ROM Version (A00 now), do I apply it then do another "hard reset" or do I just apply it since I have already done a "hard reset"?

There is only one guard in the plains and he is just north of the city just west of the fork in the road standing next to a guard tower. The guy asking for the elephant hides is a vendor that will make a special helmet for you with the hides you bring him.

I figured out thru "trial and error" why EQ was crashing! I had a corrupt *.sav file! Once that was deleted, everything ran fine.

I hope that helps anyone else who might have the same problem.
