For anyone that is looking for a new RPG, you might want to try Nuclear Time from http://www.mallocware.com It isn't widely known, but I have been playing it for the last week, and have really enjoyed it.

Finally, someone else who's noticed this game! I've been meaning to play it. How does it compare, say, to wasteland (old-school post-nuclear rpg from 80's)?
Wasteland was the BOMB back in the day! But a game like that all originated from the most classic of classic man.. The Bard's Tale. Long live my C64! :)

One more thing -- C64 was my first and dearest computer too. Once there is a full-blown C64 emulator, I'll give it a whirl.
The only problem would be that most of the games weren't mouse supported, so it would be hard to use the virtual keyboard (which is why I want to try out BT III on pocketdos).
Wasn't Bard's Tale also a NES game? I played it on my PPC with MorphGear. I am not sure how it compares as I have not played that game, but I have found it really interesting and fun. The movement is done with the stylus. You start in one town, and to move around to other towns/areas you use the map, and mark your destination. You turn the calender to make the days pass, and as they pass you move towards your destination. You use the binoculars to look around and find items or monsters to fight. Once you get enough money, you can also buy a metal detector to search for metal items. You are a mutant, and are in the process of defeating Justice, which is an organization that is trying to wipe out all mutants. You do quests in order to make money to buy better armor/weapons and sometimes ammo. You also have to buy food and water. The quests tend to include escorting people to other towns, and fighting the people that are trying to kill them. Killing people for other people, and carrying messages back and forth. Among other things. The developer of the game is in the process of enlarging the map and creating new weapons and armor.

I downloaded a NES emulator and then found the Bards Tale .NES and it has been playing like a charm.. I have been wanting to play this game for years again...
Oh shucks -- Bard's Tale III doesn't work with Pocket Dos? I really wanted to play that one. I'll add it to my list of games that don't work. Did you get any specific error?
Re: Bard's tale, NES version -- I hear it kinda sucked. I heard that it was shorter and dumbed down from pc version. What's your take? I played the original on c64 and amiga.
Well, I have only played the NES version, and didn't get to finish it at that, so I cannot give a very educated response. I did enjoy it, but it did not appear to be a very long game.
