If the ps3 controller can be made to work in linux and windows, getting it to work on windows mobile 2003 se should not be difficult, correct?

Imagine playing Quake with this! Multiplayer quake with a controller (OR COD2!!) would ROCK. I really want this.

In the last few pages of that thread they are talking about wiimote and sixaxis connectivity ... now OS X has been added to the list.
I seriously doubt that it would be THAT hard to code drivers for these things. Unless they are using some crazy band of bluetooth that the axim bluetooth cannot see? Is that even possible.
I've been thinking about attempting to do this myself. I've got a bunch of experience writing software in windows and some low level machine stuff as well. My biggest uncertainty is getting enough time to delve into this. But still - it would be interesting and I MIGHT have some free time over the holiday...
I'll at least take a close look at the work done to connect sixaxis to windows and maybe do a little research into bluetooth too.

Well, my axim can see my wiimote just fine. It just can't pair with it. All the current PC setups use custom drivers(or more often, dedicated programs) to handle pairing and such.
They've even got the classic controller working, from what I've heard, so I think someone could do something really impressive, even just using the wiimote or the sixaxis as a gamepad without any of their motion sensing features.

I just did some research and it turns out that the sixaxis for windows drivers only work through usb - so that makes it pretty useless for our purposes for now.
The wiimote on the other hand DOES look extremely friendly from a development standpoint. Sadly, I do not have a wii, but I am serious enough to at least buy a wiimote for an attempt to write these axim drivers. Unfortunately I cannot find these on store shelves right now, so I'll have to look into borrowing one from a friend or something.
The classic pad would be PERFECT if it were wireless, but sadly, it is not. You plug it into the wiimote and then you can use it. This is pretty lame of Nintendo in my opinion, and makes using it with an axim a cumbersome affair. So I guess the best we can hope for is to use the wiimote on its side - two buttons, that's two fewer than the NES ... sigh.

You can use all the buttons on the wiimote, you know. There are two more accessable ones, plus the three in the center.
And the classic controller is just about the only way to keep costs down. As it is, right now the thing is 20 dollars. To get what you can do with it, a Wiimote, and a little yet-to-be-released clip to attach the two together, you could need to put the wiimote guts in alongside the classic controller guts, raising the price to at least 40 dollars and making the wiimote pointless, in turn pissing EVERYONE off.
So...Yeah.
