DoomGLES Alpha 0.01 Released! (0.04 Update)

Been waiting for this since the project was first announced. The developer of DoomGLES has finally released the first Alpha of the game. You will need either the shareware or commercial data files from Doom 1.9, and they have to be pre-converted. There are a couple of downloads (Shareware version and Episode 1 of Ultimate) available on the DGLES page to try out. I'm off to give it a try.

UPDATE: v0.04 is available!

To test network code (wifi infrastructure), the following debug projects have been released:
+ DoomPPC V0.4 (more infos & download here : Extras)
- Initial release. Debug build. Everything should be there (in beta state...) except music support.
Network code has been successfully tested between a PC and a PocketPC. I would like to have report about PocketPC / PocketPC tests.
+ DoomPC V1.0 (more infos & download here : Extras)
- Initial release. Debug build. Everything should be there.
+ DoomGL V1.1 (more infos & download here : Extras)
- Debug build. Everything from DoomGL 1.0 should be there. Plus network code compatible with DoomPPC, DoomPC and DoomGLES (when it will be available).

I'm still getting it set up. This is definitely not for the novice; you'll need the WADs from the shareware or commercial version of Doom 1 1.9, plus the converted datasets and MD2s on the DGLES page, and you have to edit the config file manually.

Ah, done copying. Running...

Doh!

"'DoomGLES' is not a valid PocketPC application."

Okay... what am I doing wrong here? All the relevant files have been copied. Everything seems to be in order, but the EXE doesn't seem to like me. *sigh* That was a tease...

Do you have the WM5 upgrade? On my WM5 x51v, no errro message is shown, while on my WM2003SE devices, it won't start (not avalid app).

Time to upgrade your x50v to WM5?

Damn! No WM2003 support? Is this expected to change? Because let's face it, upgrading an X50v to WM2005 is generally a bad idea.

Just heard from Kokak. No WM2003 support planned because he doesn't have a device to test it on.

I'm actually considering it. I bought WM5 back when I first got my Axim last spring, but I held off on unpgrading until I read up on it and decided against it when I'd heard of all the problems with it. However, with the pair of guides and tips that have been posted here it might not be quite as bad as all that. I'll think it over s'more and maybe get to it this week. I've been meaning to clean out my Axim anyway, so maybe this is a good excuse.

Where did you hear that?

P

EDIT: never mind - I found the thread. We'll see what happens tomorrow, though I'm not getting my hopes up too high.
