I've played a lot of Adventure Co. games on the PC but neither Syberia or Atlantis. So I've been reading related posts here and reviews on the net, but I haven't seen them compare. I can only buy one so I am wondering if anyone has some constructive thought around:
Syberia vs. Atlantis Redux (Pocket PC editions)
I am curious as to how they might compare for gameplay, fun, and overall experience. I would probably enjoy both but can only get 1 at this time. I'd appreciate knowing if there were significant differences between them. I'm not sure how popular they are or if anyone would even have them both as to compare them. I'll appreciate any helpful comments, thanks!
I heared Syberia contains some bugs but I def. can say that it's not only graphically better but also offers the higher confort in control.
The mix between static backgrounds and moving 3D graphics / 2D video sequences is a lot better for the eye then the round semi-3D environment from Atlantis as you can get a real headache (this is no joke) while playing too much cause it's unnatural for the eye.
For me as big fan of the Atlantis series, it's of course the story that keeps me going with it but only to see "Redux" which is a port of Atlantis III on PPC makes it, although the story isn't much releated, still a bit sad for me to accept that the "history" isn't totally clear.
I think both games have there difficulies with the small screen if it comes to collecting small objects but here again, Syberia seems to stay on top here.
As for the story, I think both are pretty long but Syberia isn't that "scifi" in the beginning while Redux pretty fast comes to the surrealism.
ALthough you may find it a bit annoying that Syberia has a "To be continued" ending while Redux' ending is... well... it says "To be continued" but there is no real further story as Atlantis IV isn't releated to III at all ^^
And about the control, I hate it when I'm foced to scratch around on my screen instead of being able to just tap, so this is a pro of Syberia, too
Go with Syberia is my advice ^^ unless someone tells me that the bugs are too problematic as I heared that some can not find certain objects in game even with walkthrough?

I reviewed Syberia over at Just Another Mobile MOnday, and I am currently working ona review of ATlantis Redux here at Aximsite.
I found the graphics and audio in Syberia to be much better. I also found that the plot was more developed in Syberia, but also less relevant to the pregression of the game. I was frustrated in both games by the hanging endings.

... wich might be a pro of Syberia as they have the rights to port the second part, too as I know

Syberia is somewhat newer than Atlantis and has, as Michu said, the technical edge, and is, in my opinion, more fun to play. However, you won't be disappointed with either.

Oh, thank you all for your time and comments! I can feel a gentle push towards Syberia and I think I will go with that one. The 'reviews' that you all provided were just what I was looking for. Thank you again!
They are both ports of PC games with changes only in optic, not in story.

I bought Atlantis Redux -- the screen snapshots were great and it looked interesting. But I'm disappointed with the clarity of the screens and it almost looks like it's in black and white instead of color. I downloaded the trial of Syberia and had the same problem with that.
Is there something that I need to tweak on my axim 51v? The color when I view pictures of my grandkids is good and my Today screens are colorful.
I've got Syberia, and it is almost "black and white". I've tryed it on x51v and on old ipaq 4150. Looks the same. But beeing "black and white" is not the biggest problem for me. What I really don't like about these games - it is user interface, i.e. navigation. Very hard to play, espesially after playing "Broken Sword" and "Fade".
Uhm....what do you do with your Axims lately o.O
Just kidding, good colors here on my wm2003se device... maybe something with wm5.0 no one was aware about yet? o.O hmmmm

I agree with Michu. I have had no problems on my x50v with WM2003SE.
Although, I do agree, the game was not the greatest to control.

Well, I bought Syberia and have been playing it a few hours now over the last few days - I love it! I don't find the interface bad at all - especially when you can pull that 'eye' down to help look around for things to notice. The game itself is absolutely gorgeous and they did a marvelous job in transition from 'play mode' to 'movie mode' when it happens.
On the bummer side, is that I bet they 'dumbed' down the puzzles. Having played many Adventure Co. games on the PC, the puzzles were quite intriguing but on the PPC they kind of hold your hand through it.
An example would be at one point you have to put 4 gears you found into a mechanism in the right order so that it can work. In this PPC version, it is too easy. You simply drag a gear over the 4 spots on the mechanism. The cursor on the 3 wrong positions will be slashed out to indicate it is wrong. And then, of course, on the 4th one, it will be normal. I wish it would allow me to try it all 4 places, making mistakes, etc. I bet the PC version does that (or that is my memory of their other games).
Still, it is only minor to me as I am someone who enjoys the visual part of the game perhaps even more than the puzzles. I just can't wait to see what's around the next corner, LOL.
In the end, I am very happy with this game and definitely am considering looking at their other titles later on this year. If not Atlantis, maybe Mysterious Island, or even something new they might have out. (I have fond memories of their "Time Machine" game which I never finished - that would be fun...)
