SNES Emu + PPC 2003?
Any noticeable speed improvements with ppc 2003? I'm hoping to be able to play snes with sound at good framerates, but i'm not holding my breath :(

With the snes emulators I have used I wouldn't hold my breath either.

My guess is if they can optimize the emulators for x-scale it will be as good as playing pocketsnes for an arm device.
Because at the moment systems that use ARM tend to have better results with the emulators.
So no there will not be a lot of improvment but there could be some.

People with the new Ipaq 2210 are reporting Pocket SNES playing at 30+ fps with sound. Don't know if Axim will run as fast though.

the 2210 seems to have similar specs, but different hardware causes some similar PPCs to have different benchmarks.

Who has ordered it and can find out? I will go buy it right away (new os) If it makes an improvement. Otherwise, why go upgrade?

I ordered the upgrade, but it won't ship until 7/23. People getting new units here within the next week should be able to let us know how the performance plays out.
We can always cancel our orders, but I think I'll probably still get it anyway.

Got a link to that? Any words about GBA emulation? This is certainly good news! I just might give my Ax to one of my family members and get myself a 2210!
Cheers.

Axim has the px255, 2215 has the px255.
axim has xscale 400 mhz, 2215 has xscale 400 mhz
axim has 100 mhz bus(right?), 2215 has 100 mhz bus
Axim has ppc 2k2, 2215 has mobile 2k3.
I only see one difference here.
What hardware differences could make that kind of a difference? Its got to be mobile 2k3, which is made to harness the xscale processor.
Then again i have no clue what im talking about, but thats what i hope anyway.

Don't get confused, the HP 2215 (as well as the Toshiba e750) are both physically superior to the Axim. PPC 2k3 may speed up the Axim because of the optimizations but I doubt it will be anything like the speed we see on the two devices I just spoke of.
