Sleep Half Life for Pocket PC?

Probably anyone who has ever played Half Life knows that the game is fun fun fun. Now in the world of fast Axims. It requires a 500 mhz processor and 96 mb of RAM but that can be reduced because the resolution is lower. So does anyone think that its physically possible to put it on a Axim?

half life was not as much fun as the multi-player mods such as counterstrike and day of defeat. eventually so many people started hacking that the games died. However I would like to see original half life on PPC (maybe lower resolution and poorer graphics). I would also love to see original UT99 and perhaps Starcraft. The big question is whether the companies who produce these games will see it timeworthy to even bother converting those games into windows mobile.

1. We don't have the source code, no game without the code.
(and even if we would have it, we still need a good coder, just take Q3A...)

2. The companies are not interested (as like every PPC user already asked that question and many contacted them).

3. The first thing everyone will complain about are controls as with every shooter on PDA.

4. You shouldn't compare PC requirements wit PPC specs cause it makes nearly no sense (btw your values are wrong).

Phew, quess I have said it all ^^

Simple answer: No way for now.

Screw half-Life, what about Halo? That shouldn't be too big of stretch since its Microsoft game. I doubt it would ever happen since they haven't made Halo 2 available for the PC which I don't understand.

Call of Duty was released and I don't believe the company gave away its source code. So we don't always need the source code available to the public to have a game released on PPC. The only question is what drives some companies to release games on PPC while most others won't do that.

That's point number 2. companies don't WANT ^^ which is easy, they don't see any profit or simply don't want their code in other hands (which is a good reason) and most companies in the scene are not known. On your side, I would beg Aspyr to ask for Codes ^^ but then, CoD2 must have sold good and for me it seems they depend on Activision...

As Michu has said, the processor of the Axim and the processor in your PC cannot be comared MHz for MHZ. The fact that your Axim processor is 624MHz and the game "only" requires 500MHz is neither here nor there, the PC processor is still at least an order of magnitude more powerful because it has a lot of advanced features where the Axim processor was designed with ultra-low power and small physical size in mind and so uses different technologies. Your PC processor doesn't care that it uses 60 watts of power to do even the most simple things, your Axim doing the same would give you a battery life of a couple of seconds at most.

It's also not that easy to port the code from PC to PocketPC as the processors use completely different sets of instructions and so *a lot* of time and effort must go into porting even the simplest of programs. It's not as simple as a developer waking up in the morning and deciding he wants to play HL and so just "converting" it, almost every part of the code needs to be assured that it is valid in the environment which you are putting it in and for games that can be a painstaking task to do in order just to get a bearable speed.

You can list all the games you like, but that doesn't mean that anyone is ever going to have the time to port any of them. Just because one game (CoD as an example) gets ported does not mean that any other games will even be considered. If a manufacturer believes there *could* be a market then they might port it, but it takes a whole load of money and the manufacturer likes to be sure they'll get it back.

Dang... well what will probably happen is like if new PPCs with much faster possessors come out and then, maybe someone can get the hold of the source code which I hardly drought because I have Steam and it has the most advanced anti-piracy settings.

B.T.W. Does anyone know where I can download all of the wad. files for Doom?
