Great game Orions: Legend of Wizards RELEASED!!!

It was just a few days ago that I've reported on Orions: Legend of Wizards, the new, blockbuster title of the developers of Enslave, one of the best games of 2006. The game has just been released their new title. It's available here. I'll post my multiplayer-related remarks a bit later (now, I'm very busy writing an official report on the usage of Windows Mobile devices in the enterprise and, in the night, I'll finish my next big roundup on instant messaging applications for the platform).

In the meantime, I really recommend Ben Stanley’s really EXCELLENT review. Note that Eric Pankoke will also review the title - keep an eye on his blog ;)

Game of 2007?

I have just played Orions: Legend of Wizards and it was amazing! I could challenge my friends over the bluetooth, wi-fi and internet.

Check it out and let me know if you thought I was as good as I think it is!

Yeah, it lacks VGA. However, it's just GREAT even without VGA. Really recommended.

I think there is no need for VGA, the graphics are really good as they are, VGA would be overdoing the necessary power/space/resolution requs.. Just my personally impression though.

It never hurts to have better resolution. Eyecandy sales. The game is already small since it doesn't have a lot of action - and with the big storage cards these days, making it VGA would not be a problem.

Well it would simply mean more work as QVGA is still standard ;)
Dunno if someone wants to pay even more just because a view want "eyecandy" that is hardly of any visible use as all texts are readable etc.

Why would they pay more? All other game developers charge the same price for qvga or vga versions. More and more PDA's and smartphones will be VGA, so they'd be smart to offer a VGA version in the future.

And I doubt it'd take much more work to convert static images to VGA from qVGA. We're not talking about high-action animation here - just a lot of static images. Not hard.

I don't think thats true. The sprites would require much more work in VGA than QVGA.

The point about the prize is that both versions would cost more to simply represent the more work due to VGA. And it's not converting as this wouldn't make any sense, you have to create images with double the details (that are hardly visible on a screen that is still smaller then my credit card). In fact, developers have to decide right in the beginning if they want a QVGA or a VGA/QVGA game.
Don't take me wrong here, I'm a big fan of VGA but I see that the cost/use-callculation makes it often pretty irrelevant for developers as they e.g. can hardly overview which VGA device can play their game then as VGA needs a lot more power resources so they would need to lower other things to make it work on slower VGA devices, too etc.
