A new version of the popular OpenGL port of Doom was released today. Here is what is new in this release:
- Added music support (through converted wav files). Please read DGLESConvert manual to know how to convert Doom music to wav.
- Added landscape / portrait choice. See "Orientation" parameter in the doomgles.cfg file.
- Lighting optimisations (some MAP2x of Doom2 were quite unplayable). See "MaxSceneLights" parameter in the doomgles.cfg file.
- Status bar displayed ingame.
- Added an icon in the exe file.
Since v0.3, all IWADS are now supported, as well as PWADS. The author has released a converter so you can convert your IWAD file for use with DoomGLES. The readme file contains all the necessary information you need in order to convert your IWAD. Instructions on how to use the software with the converted data is also included. And finally, music support! So now we can blast those demons to the wonderful Doom soundtrack.
When installing this, I recommend starting from scratch (when I was upgrading versions, all I had was a white screen; making a fresh install corrected this problem). I think you will be very pleased with this release from the author.
