Genesis Plus v1.06 + BGP-100 problems

Hello,
I just bought a Chainpus BGP-100 gamepad and I'm having problem to remap keys in Genesis Plus v1.06. I'd like to reconfigure the SDL_keys value to play in landscape mode but it seems to have no effect.

The keys orientation remains as Portrait mode not taking count of the changes I made in the config file

The gamepad works flawlessly in other emulators.
Is anyone having the same problems?:love:
Could someone help me?

Another question:
is there any tweak to reduce the bluetooth lag?:exc:

I'm sorry, I don't really get your problem, what do you mean by saying "The keys orientation remains as Portrait mode"? Is the Directional Pad not orientated correctly?

About the lag, as I know, it's caused by the CPU as it has to handle both, incoming signals and the emulation. So disburden the CPU or overclocking is the way to go.

I'll try to explain better my problem:

My gamepad is configured by default factory setting to send direction keys as original D-PAD as it has to be used in Portrait mode

D-Pad UP = GamePad UP

If I play Genesis plus in landscape mode using the Axim D-Pad, the direction keys are used rotated by 90° counter clockwise so we will have:

PORTRAIT-------->LANDSCAPE

UP----------------->RIGHT
RIGHT------------->DOWN
DOWN------------>LEFT
LEFT-------------->UP

According to this my gamepad has to be rotated 90 ° CCW , too.. But none would play with a vertical gampad..

So the solution i thought is to change the SDL keys in the config file:

These are the original values:

# Up
# values: SDL keysym
key_up = 273

# Down
# values: SDL keysym
key_down = 274

# Left
# values: SDL keysym
key_left = 276

# Right
# values: SDL keysym
key_right = 275

# Up
# values: SDL keysym
key_up = 273

# Down

# Left
# values: SDL keysym
key_left = 276

# Right
# values: SDL keysym
key_right = 275

These are the modified ones

# values: SDL keysym
key_right = 273

Also if I mess up with other keycode configuration the D-Pad and GamePad orientation seems to not change anything!

I'm using GenesisPlus 1.06 25-02-2007 build and the log is claiming that a key configuration problem is fixed....

Yup, maybe the experimental build doesn't feature these changing-options on purpose and you just have to wait till he makes it a none-experimental release or the like. Or switch back to an older version and check there.

Although I think chances are higher that it was made like that to adapt to the orientation without the need to change your D-Pad manually all the time.

Ah, btw, what just came up to my mind, do you have the same problem when you change "landscape = false" in the config and play in Portrait?

If I set "landscape = false" it works flawlessly in portrait mode, even if I change
the default key values to mess up the whole thing

. It seems it has no effect in this build

. Perhaps I have to contact n0p on his site....:)

Well as I said, it might be a relict that the key values are still in the config as he let's the emulator handle the D-Pad values for best comfort, I'm not even sure if he can do anything for you then as your pad has different values for directions itself...

....but you should have the same problems with other emulators, too like FPSEce? As this emu handles it in a similar way... if not, maybe it's nothing "big".

Yes that's true

... But in other emulators I can correctly remap the buttons according to the rotation...:)

Ok... At last I've resolved my problems...

I found that a .cfg file in my rom folder was overriding the general config file in the GenesisPlus folder...
I don't know why it was created... Perhaps with a previous version of the Emulator? It was a previous feature? Well, I don't know, but at last I've made it!

Changes in the config file now has effect and I managed to obtain the desired key configuration...
