Yes, in my opinion Archon is quite possibly the BEST game ever made on any system. I brought it for the Commodore 64 at a computer fair in about 1984 on tape. It was only available on import so cost me something like £20 (a lot for an 8 bit game back then). Many late nights with my mates.
You can stick your Battle Chess - give me Archon! The sooner Archon Evolution (http://www.archonevolution.com) is finished the better!

20 years later.... I still can't get the intro song for Archon out of my head at times. I can't count how many times I started up the game just because I was fascinated at how a computer could make music like that.

I'm glad other people are also enjoying the game. If the product sells well enough, they will be releasing new sets and animations. That should be interesting. :)

I had it for the Atari 800 (Archon). Stayed up many a night playing the game. Hopefully it will make a comeback! Maybe if we talk it up more

Ehhhh, too much multitasking going on here. My opponent would probably get upset in between moves when it took me like 15 minutes to notice it was my turn. :p

Hehe! I have found that women are much more adept at multitasking than men. At least the guys I know ;).

Yes, I was communicating with Max. He is a really nice guy. It is rare to see that prompt and friendly of customer service.
I think a sci-fi or fantasy board would be great. :D Maybe a set similar to Lord of the Rings with Wizards and orcs and elves, etc. :D

is this game like archon in the sense that even if your opponent takes your piece, you can "duke" it out in a "battlefield" setting? meaning, in normal chess, you take a piece and it's done, so i'm thinking this game allows you to take opponent's piece and what you see on screen is just your piece killing your opponent's piece, but not actually fighting it out, where your opponent could come out on top, like on archon..........................i don't have my pda with me right now so can't try the trial.........but i hope my question makes sense

No its not like Archon where you fight for the square ... Its just the animation of the chess piece killing the opponents piece ...

You can't even play one game with the trial ...
And I find the 3D board view pretty ugly and not readable.
Animations are cool but ...
