Tomb Raider works...

Just in case anyone is interested and maybe it's already been mentioned but I have got a new Axim (PPC2003) and Tomb Raider installed and works fine on it. It really looks super and would play superb if my d-pad worked properly (new replacement Axim on the way).
I really don't know why the reviews said it only worked on the Ipaq's

Did you install it on an SD card or to the onboard memory?

I'm downloading it now. I'm very nervous and I do hope it works!

Christ, it didn't work. "Unable to retrieve serial number" error. Anyone have an idea for a fix?

What a waste of money. I feel ill.

Write to the developer, I'm sure if you tell them the situation they will refund you.

Well im sorry to say it but i bought tomb raider when i had my axim and could never get it working (same serial no. problem), i emailed core and they said it was no go and if you bought it through handango you will notice the message about contacting core BEFORE purchase to check it will work on your PDA.

I have read posts on these forums ref people running it on axim but i assume these are hacked versions, I now have it running on ipaq but it does lock itself to one machine only so your stuffed if you send a unit back for a fault.

Eidos said I should get a refund from handango. Do you mean to say that handango will not give me a refund for this particular item?

Darn, I really wanted to play this game on the PPC

I have gotten refunds from Handango before. You should be able to do that.

The demo looks pretty good. They sure could save everyone a lot of grief if the demo was playable on the PPC, though. That would answer compatibility questions right away. Sure hate to part with $30 for a game that won't work on my device.

All I can say is that I got it working on my Axim before I sent it back. I have to confess I downloaded it off newsgroups though because I heard it didn't work so it wasn't an original - but it worked fine and I played at least 4 levels on the Axim with no issues (other than it being a bit difficult due to the dpad). Before anyone starts getting on their high horses about the newgroup stuff - I have now bought it and it works fine on my 2210.
Maybe it only worked on PPC2003 which my Axim had on it. All the people above who couldn't get it to work, did you have 2002 or 2003 running?
Oh and to answer the question above, I installed it into the main memory as I didn't have a CF or SD card at the time.

I emailed Eidos re: compatibility. I finally got a response today:
Dear Cheryl,

I'm afraid the Dell will definitely not work with the game but the 2215
might. We haven't tested on this device and so cannot guarantee whether it
will or not. If you'd like to give it a try, I would recommend checking the
Handango returns procedure prior to purchase in case it fails to operate
correctly.

As much as I like the demo, I am not willing to spend $30 for a game that might not work. Handango has a decent return policy, but I'd prefer not to deal with the hassle. What a bummer.

I have 2003 on my device Pagnell. They woulden't let me return it at Handango either. So now I will just keep it in case I buy an HP sometime.

That sure is weird. Maybe the version I downloaded off newsgroup was different in some way (I have only played my original version on my HP) but I had it running and, like I said above, it worked fine. I played it for over 3 hours in one session so I haven't got a clue why Eidos are saying it doesn't work.
