Sorcery PDA Problems

I just sent this over to the people at Sorcery PDA. It may take up to 48 hours before the email volley begins so I'm posting my message to them hear too. Hopefull someone can help.

Hi,

I just purchased Sorcery PDA XScale from Handango. My Order # is 2978891. I am using a Dell Axim Advanced 400 MHz PXA255 with ROM A05 and Windows Mobile 2003. I installed the game initially by running the installsx.exe file and then running the setup.exe file in the folder that all the files were extracted to. This brought up my normal install program provided with ActiveSync 3.7 and I installed it on my CF Card. I started playing the game and after looking in a pile or going into the room with the torch, the screen would go black in the upper and middle part and show some of the lower half. When I would click on the exit option, it would ask if I wanted to and when I said yes, it did nothing. I had to soft reset to get my PPC back to normal. I tried this a couple of more times and had to continue to soft reset. I then uninstalled it, did another soft reset and went to the website for help. I tried the suggestion of copying the entire folder on my PC to the PPC and then running the .cab. I had the same results. I have no other programs running and have roughly 26 megs of storage and program memory available when I install to the CF card. Apprximately on 10 megs are free when it installs to main memory. Please help...

Thank you,

I get the same black screen sometimes when I continue a game and I also have to perform a soft reset. I informed them of this, and they basically told me that no one else has reported the problem.

Well for the amount they are charging that is unacceptable.

Do you have it installed on a memory card, or main memory? I have heard it works better from main memory, but I don't want to take up that much space.

I tried it both ways. Originally on a CF then to main. It was actually better on the CF.

I've been thinking about getting this game but I have an Axim with 2002...wonder if I'd run into the same problems you are having (?). The only thing so far that I'd have an issue with is I really don't like purchasing a pocketPC app where users like yourself have problems with it and there seems no interest in the company to look into it; other than to tell you no one else has reported the problem. Not an answer I like to see from someone charging $24.95.
Let us know if this problem gets resolved....THANKS!

janine248 - I'll be happy to keep you updated but it may be a little while before I hear back from them. I was told in an auto-response that it could be up to 48 hours.

Also, did I ever mention how much I like your avatar (you change them a lot, I mean the angel).

Isn't this what Dell did, initially, with the 2003 Axims?

initially, yes, Dell did deny having a problem with 2003 but, they are trying to correct it.....unlike these Sorcery people who don't even seem interested in looking into it. I'll wait to see what kind of response FrstdOne gets from them.

Hmmmm this is interesting. I have Sorcery on my 2002 Axim400 and haven't had any trouble with it yet. I'm running it from my SD card.

2002 release is fine...these issues seem to be for the people who have an AX with 2003 (which is what I am upgrading to eventually). If the problems can't be resolved for people like Raynne and FrstdOne, I wouldn't see a reason in getting it.

Nope, I'm running 2002, not 2003. Janine, if I were you, I would wait a while before ordering. They ran into some major bugs with the Axim that they are having to go all the way back to the beginning to fix. I believe there will eventually be around 11 or 14 mods and right now, the only ones released are 1 (part 1 and 2) and part 1 of Mod 2.

Hardly. From where I sit, you seem like a really sweet person. I bet you're a lot closer than you think.

Raynne413 - Did you get the XScale or Arm version? I'm using XScale.

I have the X-scale version as I heard it wouldn't even work with the ARM version (on the Dell anyway).
