Game: Plant Tycoon

I noticed that there is a 50% off coupon for Plant Tycoon at Handango and was wondering if anyone has played it? It sounds like a fun game and I think I'm going to buy it because it's 50% off. It starts at $20 (too expensive for me), but then, it's only $10! Please post comments quickly! My fingers are forcing me to buy it now! I don't even have a iPaq now because my 3835 is in for service and I have my HX4705 preordered!

It's ok.. but Tradewinds seems like more fun... but then I have only spent a little time on either game.

I picked up Plant Tycoon when I saw it was 50% off. I have to say that I really suck at gardening I keep forgetting to check my plants and they die. Go figure.

Funny that you mention Tradewinds, RiPpeR. If I had to choose between Tradewinds and Plant Tycoon the winner would be Tradewinds, no contest. Of course they are two entirely different game genres.
It's that time of year again. I need a new holiday avatar... Is there anyone up to the challenge?

I could easily spend hundreds of dollars on just software for my ipaq, that is obvious. So far, I have spent close to $250 on software alone for my iPaq.

Seems we have something in common... I suck as a gardener... (to many infestations) and no one wants to buy my plants...

But I make a great pirate... err... trader... the game is fun but lacks depth. They really need to give it a lot more depth of play... with more routes etc. Less confrontations with pirates would add to the game as well, and when you do meet them, make the battles more difficult and more tactical. Even merging in something like their Seven Seas game during the battle scenes would have added to the game. Or how about making the part for finding the pirates like a RPG... where you need to decipher clues to locate them and their hideouts, unless you happen to run into them on the open waters.

I realize that Astraware was trying to make a game that could be played quickly over a short period of time... but in this case I think it hurts the game more than helping it. A game like this is meant to last a long time... there are empires to build... and enemies to conquer. Maybe they will get it right the next time... it is a nice road map for promising game but lacks the depth for longevity.

Ok... I know that Astraware is known for action games... but maybe it is time to try something new.

By the way... the game that got me hooked... was Jon Welch's Space Trader. The game was free and had me playing nonstop. The graphic's are less than stellar... though adequate... but the gameplay was wonderful. Astrawares's Tradewinds could easily be in this genre and be a much better game, just a tweak here... a change there...

Actually this is port of SandLot's PC game so Astraware is pretty limited on enhancements due to licensing issues. We've already got a forum set up on the Astraware website with requests for new features if there is an update done.

Have you tried playing all the different characters? Each one has different strengths and weaknesses that can make the game quite challenging.

I think I'm going to open a Tradewinds thread so we stop hijacking the Plant Tycoon thread .. hehe sorry benn600

I just got an email from PocketGear. They have it on sale for $15.96. I know it's not 50% off, but at least it's something.
