Why is it that.......

.......their are games like Age of Empires and Sim City 2000 on the Pocket PC but classics like Civilisation, C&C, Diablo, Syndicate, i.e. any game made before 1995 are not available. I imagine its something to do with money/licenses, its a shame somebody doesnt write a program that allows these games to be played. I mean, if they can create an emulator that plays Lucasarts SCUMM adventure games, why can't they create an emulator that plays older games?.................wishfull thinking i guess

I know Civilization was in the works, at least for Palm, but the developers ran into licensing problems

no kidding...
Having a PPC port of Syndicate would rock...

How hard can it be?? Now I never claimed to know much about programming (and correct me if I am talking out of my @ss), but couldn't you just take the original game, decompile it and recompile it using the PPC2002/WM2003 SDK?

Now I am curious..

I don't think Blizzard (Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft... all would rule on the PPC...) is exactly the friendliest company to deal with in tersm of 3rd parties modifying their software... which is a shame, and if they ported it themselves I personally would buy the old games since they were a lot of fun, any of those Classic Blizzard Games (I don't really like their newer ones, WarIII didn't do anything for me... and DII wasn't as good as the original)

it amazes me that games distributors have not seen the potential market for these old classic games on Pocket PC's, especially when you see the popularity of the Gameboy Advance etc

Yes, the gameboy advanced is popular, but more people own a GBA than a PPC, and the GBA is less expensive. Unfortunately, I don't think they see the profits as being large enough to cover the costs of porting them, much less give them actual income.
There are only two truly infinite things, the universe and human stupidity; I am unsure of the former.

How hard would it be to create a DOS emulator / virtual mode that runs on WM2003 or PPC2002?
