Good, FREE Games: Do they exist?

I'm having trouble finding good games, tha dont cost anything. Seems all the decent games that are talked about on here are only free demos or trials.. are there any good games that are freeware? If so, can you link me? I like RPG's puzzle types like mah-jhong, strategy, etc.

NeoTiles is a fun Mahjong type game.
WinHack is an ok style explore RPG. Not much of a plot, and easy to die, but still pretty fun.

In my opinion, you'll never find many good freeware games or applications. The time and work it takes to develop even a fairly simple game or app, and work out all the bugs....is worth something to the developer. So not many people are offering freeware nowadays unless it is something very elementary.

Whatever happened to that link to EggHead 1.0? I haven't seen my Axim since I got my wife hooked on it.

I think there are a ton of useful apps and great games that are freeware. Go to freewareppc.com and look around. You won't find anything like Argentum or Rayman Ultimate for free but you can find lots of entertaining games. Check out PocketNester, PocketHeretic, and PocketHexen (all run perfect on the Ax). Lots of developers are working on freeware apps. Poke around on the forum for some insight into the better ones.

Unfortunately, there are only a very few like pocket euchre and a few other otherwise boring games that if we weren't so cheap we would pay for real ones so we could play for hours.

Anybody remeber a very old BBS game called "Mutants" ? An in-depth text based RPG, but that game was all kinds of fun

Does anyone remember the Clickgamer christmas game, Snowed In? It was a freeware and is the same style as Egghead and Cropped Out. I believe it was the first Clickgamer game of it;s genre. I could be wrong. :)

Later,
Mike

Nethack is perhaps the greatest computer game ever!

Once you get into it you find out there is actually a plot - and different quests depending on your character type. The level of complexity in the game is amazing - I fully recommend you give it a try.

I didn't know it was available for PPC! Off to download it now..
