MameCE3 problem..

I've been trying to play KOF98 on MameCE3 for weeks now, but no matter what I do it wont show up in my games list. The rom is in the roms folder, this same rom works fine in the regular mame, but I get nothing in MameCE3.

Can someone here help me? How do you play Neo-Geo games on MameCE3?

The rom is not suported by mamece3, if you want to play it you will have to look for a different emulator.

The only roms which work are listed when you click:

options\show all games

er.. then why is KOF98 listed when I click show all games?

Is KOF98 the name of the game or the ROM zip? If it's the ROM zip what's the actual name of the game as I can't see it listed as being supported.

Also what version of Mamece3 are you running? The current is 9.5

Have you tried running it under the Megamamece3 version? Megamame supports far more ROMS but occupies far more space on your PPC.

Yes, I'm using the latest MegaMameCE3. The King of Fighters 98 is the name of the game, and the romname for it is kof98.zip. Unfortunately I still can't get it working.

Could it be the version supported by Megamame is a different ROM to the one you have.

yes it could but its undocumented which version of the ROM I need. It also hasn't been updated in 2 years so I'm sure that has a part to do with it unfortunately :/

Did a quck search on the net for the ROM files and found 3 versions:

The intersting thing IMO is the difference is file size - kof98 38.57Mb and the other 2 < 512Kb.

Maybe you need one of the other 2 zip files?

Maybe at 38.57Mb for kof98.zip it's a resource issue?

Actually, it's how the roms are structured. I found out that I couldn't play Jr. Pac-Man due to the fact I required the romset from version .36 of dos-MAME. You could search google or the like for it, or if you know you have the right files, search for a RomCenter datafile for mame 0.36 and run romcenter on them.
