I just received my new AXIM two days ago. I went on and downloaded Pocket Quake. It appears to run great but nothing I do will let me select a game to play. When the menu comes up I can make the selector icon move up and down the choices but it will not let me select. I push in on the center of the movement button but it still will not select the game from the menu. What am I doing wrong?

Hi again all . I am slowly getting used to this Axim 5 with 400mh processor. Ain't it a HOOT :P . I was reading through the forums and found that the scroll button when pushed acts as a return. I was pushing it but not hard enough. Pocket Quake is working great now. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day.

Hey all,

quake.pocketmatrix.com has a few versions of the ARM pocket quake

* iPaq, @migo, Pocket PC 2002
* iPaq 38xx series
* iPaq 3100
* HP Jornada 720

Which one is most appropriate for the Axim?

I've tried the first option, and had the following problem in installing the software:
I can't seem to write to the /Windows/ directory in the Axim to install gx.dll and the game itself.

Could someone who has installed this right post an idiot's guide?

Cheers,

I tried PocketQuake last night and while I was impressed that it could run at all, I found the gameplay a little less than...um...immersive - which is one of the reasons I play FPS games in the first place. On the other side of the gaming universe I ended up playing Monopoly on my Axim for an hour and had a blast.
My Favorite Toys: Dell Axim 5, Tivo, Grado SR325 and SR80 headphones, Danger Sidekick, 15GB iPod, Sony D66 "Eggo" Headphones, Altiods Headphone Amp, MuVo MP3 player, Canon Digital Elph S100, Battlefield 1942, Twins 14 oz boxing gloves and my 3yo son.

Yeah, I got Pocket mame figured out (problem was on the desktop end)...
and then quicky back to the real fun of Dope Wars.

Pocket Quake, did it, deleted it. Not really big-time FPS experience

Hi All,
I downloaded and installed the pocketpc 2002 os version of Pocket Quake and it works fine. The controls are a little screwy and takes some getting used to. Thinking about installing Pocket Quake 2 to see if it handles any better.

As far as installing Pocket Quake goes if you are a gamer the gx.dll should already be in your windows directory.
I created a folder on my CF card called Quake. Then created a subfolder named ID1. Installed the autoexec file and unzipped the PAK0.PAK file into the ID1 folder. The pocketQuake.exe file went into the windows\start menu\games\ directory. Should run like a banchee.

Now I am looking for games like Neotiles Pocketpccity(freeware). Taipei style games.

Thanks All
