Emulators?

Anyone know where one might obtain NES or SNES, or any other emulators for that matter?

FPSECE: A playstation emulator!!! Not sure how playable the games are, but here is a compatibility list and the devices demoed on:
http://projects.davejansen.com/fpsece/index.php

Good stuff. I haven't tried it yet cuz I can't get my hands on any ISOs and the only way for me to do so would be through illegal means. Illegal ain't my style.

That would be left to your own devices (so to speak).

Usually the sites where you download the emulators from have a game or two to try out, or point you towards other sites where you can download some games, or tell you what files you need to move on to your Ipaq to play a certain game.

The thing to remember is that with emulators what you are doing is getting your Ipaq to behave like a PS1 or PS2 or NES (or whatever); if you had a PS2 you would still need to get hold of a game to play on it, so what would you do? You'd buy a game, or borrow one from a friend, or get one from a cover disk etc; the same thing applies to emulators.

How do you play the games w/ the emulator?

Do you have to buy a keyboard/controller? Or can you use the stylus?

Of course, to play emulated games (almost all of them), you need a keyboard or a controller. PPC are no different.

Having converted a few of my PS1 games (yes I own them), FPSCE is a neat tech demo (works great on an ipaq 2755 - Win2003SE) with working sound but controls leave a lot to be desired (even with the virtual screen-pad).

You need to choose emulators that run best on your system. For example, Morphgear SNES runs best on a Win2003 device. GBA games (via Morphgear) require either an overclocked Asus A620 or newer 624MHz PPC's.

For older PPC's (PPC2002) NES, GBC and most of the other 8bit gaming emulators run ok. I was particularly fond of the 8bit computers having grown up in the 6502 CPU days.

Google is definitely your friend when it comes to finding "stuff."

Also, if you're into adventure games, can't leave out PocketSarien (the old Sierra adventure games).

With regards to controls, each emulator is different - but most emulators have programmable controls with the occasional virtual screen ones.

You don't need a keyboard OR a controller to play the emulated games on a PPC. The buttons are on the screen, and can be used with your fingers, stylus, or you can just use the buttons (mapped).

i got the latest version of Fpsce to run on my 4700 . used pocket iso to shrink crash bandicoot 2 down to 179 meg on normal compression and stored on sd card fpsce is in file store. i get between 10 to 20 fps during gameplay.
it works but is a tad laggy due to framerate. all my other ps1 games are too big to fit on my sd card ,256 meg, so i will have to get a bigger one

would it run faster if i was installed to memory instead?? its not an installer it has to be coppied to ppc.....

as for controllers there is a bluetooth one ment for phones and smaller devices but ther is a link here somewhere where someone pulled it apart and lengthened the wire between the handles . here a link to the gamepad

cheers.....
