Freeware RPGs?

My first post (great website by the way)!

Does anyone know of a good RPG that's freeware?

I run an RZ1710, so i suppose it would have to be not too processor heavy.

Did you try Dungeon Master? See thread somewhere a couple lines down. It should run fine on the rz1710.

Actually I did, but just couldn't get into it. I was thinking more along the lines of a final fantasy styled one.

You can use PocketNES (free NES emulator), and then play the original NES Final Fantasy series.
All you need are the ROMS.

Other than that, there isn't anything even close to the Final Fantasy series.
Of which I think the first was the best

Alternatively, you could try running Pocket Atari or one of the other 8bit emulators (kike the Apple CE or C64).

There are a whole bunch of oldie but goodie rpg's there (I remember spending lots of my summer holidays on some of these) - such as the Gold Box AD&D series, Crimson Crown and all the other SSI games.

You could also play NetHack.

Or use a GBC emulator to play the FF games too.

I know you're looking for freeware, but you really should check out Legacy. Not only will it keep you occupied for hours, several expansion packs have been released so you can continue to adventure
It's that time of year again. I need a new holiday avatar... Is there anyone up to the challenge?
