An open-source chess database program,
SCID, has just been ported to the Pocket PC, specifically developed for the Axim, and can be found here:
SCID for PPC
A chess database program is a program that allows you to store, organize, and review, chess games of past or present events. All chess sites offering news of events, will inevitably offer the games played in PGN format (a text-based format to record a game). You can open them in a program such as SCID and play over them. It also gives access to a top playing program to analyze the moves, basically telling you what was missed or why a move you have in mind is not (or is) better.
It was just
announced in specific computer chess forums, and is under development.
