I like Pocket Fritz and Hexacto Kasparov Chessmate. Both are excellent programs with good depth and features. Kasparov Chessmate lets you play humans online or computer and rated games to level 2300. I get kicked at 1200.

I have yet to find the perfect chess game. If I could take the Interface of Kasparov chessmate with the bad move notifications of Pocket Grandmaster with the engine of Pocket Fritz and the tutorials of Majestic Chess with the battle option of Chesscapades, I would be thrilled.

Of course not! :p The thing is Majestic Chess has a good list of tutorials and chess puzzles, but doesn't warn you when you are about to make a bad move.
Pocket Grandmaster 2.0 warns you when you are about to make a bad move, but doesn't have the chess puzzles or tutorials. The interface of Kasparov Chess looks the best, but it's "tutorial" is a joke, and the puzzles advertised don't work. Chesscapades is fun because of the battles, but it doesn't have tutorials, puzzles, or bad move notifications. And Pocket Fritz has the best engine, but also doesn't have the other things I have listed previously.

I like Chesscapades and you can play across the internet with a friend or someone else on the server.
You can play WiFi or connect via your sync cable.
It's one thing to beat the computer, but something else kicking the butt of some "wanna be".

:)

thanks, that really sucks that none of them are good overall games. I want a good tutorial since I am still an amature, but a good engine and interface wouldn't hurt. I'll look more into it, thanks

How does the ppc version of Majestic Chess play that is included with the PC version. Haven't seen anything written about it at all. Does it have all the bells and whistles and fantasy scenarios that the full version has?

No, it doesn't. Unfortunately. However, it does have decent tutorials and good puzzles.

I'm curious. What do you all think of Chess Genius? It doesn't have any puzzles etc. but it seems pretty strong to me.

I don't mind change as long as I'm not around when it happens.
