You might want to take a look at Freeware PPC.

Nice site, too bad it doesn't include instructions for installing the software on the pocket pc!

Installing software on the PocketPC is pretty straightforward and easy. I think the site assumes people know how to install software on their PPCs. Overall, it is a great site for free stuff!

I'll admit....I'm among those who don't know how to install programs that don't have an install option :) Do tell?

If the file is .exe, then normally you will run it from your PC. Just double click, and the install should start. Add/Remove programs should pop up through Active Sync. It will ask you if you want to install to default location. If you want it in main memory, choose yes. If you want to install it to a memory card, say no.

If it is a .cab file, just transfer it to your PPC and run it from there.

It's a zip file and will only install onto my pc. When I try to run the .exe file, I get the message that I am trying to run a program on the wrong DOS.

I love Lemmings. Oh, well, maybe next time.

If the extension is .zip, then have you extracted the file?

Ok, try this. Extract the .zip file and then move the unzipped file to your Axim. Use file explorer on your Axim to browse to the folder and click the .exe file. It should run from there.

Don't forget about Gigi's great Aximsite Tutorial, Installing, Running, and Uninstalling Software. Very informative, and helpful for anyone looking to install PocketPC software.
