Civ for pocket PC

I have heard of a version of Civilization coming out for the Palm OS.

Anyone know if one is coming out for the pocket PC?
Seems to me the pocket PC would be the first of the PDAs for this porgram

Civilisation for Pocket PC (2)
By PP MAryl - Wednesday February 20 2002 @ 04:27PM GMT - Pocket PC games

Yeeeeeeeeeeep ... !!! Mike (PocketGamer.org) just received an email from Andrew. This one is working on the the Pocket PC version of Civilisation. ... This game, calls FreeCiv, was ported by Jennifer Glover few months ago ... but we didn't have any news since last July. The Alpha version of this game is done at 75% and we expect a release soon. In my case, I am relly impatient ... and when I will say that to my son ... he will be absolutly mad of that! This game is an open source, so it will be free!!!

Thanks for the reply marteen. I wonder what happened to this port of civ. It is supoosed to be freeware as well. Oh well we shall have to wait and see. Civ seems like the ideal game for a pocket pc

Civ or better yet Civ II would be awesome on a Pocket PC. Who owns the rights to the Civ series now? Maybe an email campaign could show them that there is interest...

I've read that Redshift is planning a Pocket PC port of Civilization, due in the first half of 2003 (see Mobile Civilization). However, their main page doesn't mention it, so I'm not sure if it will ever happen.

glad there is some interest in this

Well we will have to see what happens. I just cant imagine someone with the rights and coding ability not intending to release a civ for the pocket pc. It seems like a financial no brainer. Unfortunately I dont have the rights or the coding ability :)

Cheers
