Hey everyone. Here's a link to a game that I used to play obsessively back when I was still using a Palm called Space Trader. This is a beta version of the game for the PPC. So far, I haven't had any probelms but I only spent 2 minutes playing...

Sweet.... I used to play this game all the time as well when I had my first Palm. AND ITS EVEN COLOR!!! WOOOHOO!

Yay! I actually used to play the original web version about five or seven years ago (before they made you pay to play it), and I've been so jealous watching my sister play it on her Palm. Ha, now she'll be forced to watch me play in color.

Nice.

I am sure some of you will recognise this as Elite minus the actual flying bits.

There is a version of elite for the PPC at http://www.eliteppc.com/index.htm . They are currently trying to sort out some legal issues before releasing it, but you can sign up for to be a Beta tester if you want - the beta is the full version minus a save game feature.

It is a fantastic conversion, and plays brilliantly. It is definitely the most nostalgic game I have played - brings back hours of my wasted youth ;-)

For anyone interested, you can now download the full version of Space Trader from www.spacetrader.co.uk.There are also places available on the Elite beta list as well if you want to sign up :)

I get a 403 error from the above site link. Also, for Elite, it says to sign up if your device isn't already listed, so that rules me out. :D

The link above is OK. There appeared to be an extra . after the co.uk which was confusing it. I have edited the message to remove it out of the url. There is still room on the beta for whatever PDA you happen to have.

This is the one thing I truly missed about my Visor, was no Space Trader. It is also why I had to keep changing batteries every week. I love this game. And I do remember on Palm, that there was a game editor for Space Trader, which you could cheat with. I wonder if he'll make one, or maybe if you could tweak your stats through the registry? It is cool enough though that we now have it on Pocket PC! I'll be on it time from time and in between!

There are cheats built into the game, you just have to find them :)

I've been playing this game on my Axim since I just downloaded it like 15 minutes ago, and I love it. I used to miss my Visor, but now, I completely LOVE my Axim. This game has no problems. It is wonderful...

Now, for the cheats? What cheats? Where can I find them?

Can you e-mail them to me? Please?
