Originally posted by Rorschach There's a thread right here about freeware games, but it seems to go on its little tangents... but anyway, on to the freeware:
There seem to be a few fans of Nethack... it's an old-school dungeon romp.
Nutcracker may be the prettiest free game you can get. You control a little remote controlled vehicle through a foreign embassy disabling bombs while searching for clues, items, weapons, etc. Pretty fun.
My copy-paste skills must have been lacking that day. I fixed that link, but here it is again.
And for completions sake, in addition to the freeware games at freewareppc.com, here's a link to games at Handango sorted by price from lowest to highest. If you're in the mood to browse, you've got about 7-8 pages of free games to try out
My favorite freeware are:
AIM (Free @ the UK site)
ftxPBrowser (Tabbed browser)
PocketNES (NES emulator)
Total Commander (Explorer alternative)
Tropical Nights (Video poker 5 card draw)
VNCview (Control your PC from your PDA)
Net Use (Stream MP3's off network drives)
New Go (Game played in Beautiful Mind)
Free Pong (Name says it all)
PocketQuake (My favorite FPS)
TurboTray (Overclocker)
Everything should be easily found on Google, but if not let me know.
Front Mission 3 beats the *crap* out of pocketwar (and costs less)
Most games I've tried run 'decent' on an axim x5 adv. FM3, ff2, ff5, tactics ogre and Zanac X Zanac run REALLY well. Havent even got it overclocked. This and the freetg16 emu part of morphgear and my favorite freeware.
(I like remover and wisbar avdance too, but they arent games)
I have a question about ftxPBrowser (Tabbed browser). I downloaded it and it seems to run fine except that it opens a new window every single time I click a link! Does anyone know if there is a way to only open new windows when you want to? It is really annoying when trying to sign into an email server.
Thanks...

yeah, just make sure the button on the lower right side (paper w/ green arrow) is not selected. I believe if you type a URL however it will still open it in a new tab, but links will open in the same page.
Oh wait, I thought you meant it was some kind of music streaming app, this is just a emulation of the DOS command NET USE to map drives, I can do that with Resco File Explorer!
Yep, sorry for the misunderstanding, but unfortunately Resco isn't free and this does the job. (Yes, I'm aware you are able to use the Network feature of Resco even after the Demo expires, but that's a bit dishonest).
SDNick484,
Thanks for the tip on ftxpBrowser...one of those things that would have just taken a while to mess with and figure out. This program is really useful so thanks even more for mentioning it! :D

No prob, in fact I originally uninstalled the program the first time I used it because I was getting fed up with some of its quirks. Gave it a second chance and now love it.
