New Playstation Emulator coming out shortly

I spoke with the creator of PocketSx and he sent me his newest program , in this version everything is totally updated . And this time it actaully works . He was able to load up FF4.iso into the program , it ran . Just with the dell axim there are minor bugs that will be fixed in the later versions . The controllers are the only thing that are making me fuss , but everything else is smooth riding .
Enjoy

I'll certainly give it a shot when it comes out, but if current Pocket PCs can't even handle SNES / GBA emulation, how is a PSX ROM going to fare?!

well, playstation is twice as powerful as SNES, but half as powerful as N64, which means it's much more manageable. However this doesn not mean that it will provide acceptable emulation, but i'm willing to give it a shot.

I cant wait!

just think you can spend a couple of hunder bucks just on CF memory card, so you can fill it with a psx iso. Do you really want to play a psx game on an axim?

About how much space do you think it would need? I have 128 SD & CF.

Well I'd assume newer PS games take up the whole CD-ROM format that the PSX uses. So guess about 650MB. Now of course they would be compressed, but you'd still need some space, maybe 512 megs?

512 megs costs about $100 now, 256 costs $50, and so forth, it's basically about $200/gig for compact flash, and every fraction thereof. Anything more though severely jacks up the price :)

I bet they could compress a PSX down to 256.

The problem is that for the most part there are very few Playstation roms on the web and Sony has made it very clear that they will sue anyone who distributes PSX or PS2 ROMS. PSX ROMS that I have seen will never fit on anything less than a 512 meg memory card. There are very few public domain ROMS available for PSX.

There can be no posting of any sites that have non-public domain PSX games.

From a technical point we are talking about ISO images of CDs here so you can't really compress them at all...

I see... the N64 files I konw were smaller, so it would be more feasible to store those, except, the engine AFAIK was a lot more complicated, I just don't see this being all that possible for PPC.
