Does anybody know of *any* acceptible SNES emulator for the Pocket PC? The 400 MHz XScale processor is more than fast enough to play SNES games. The original SNES only had a 3.5 MHz processor. A Pentium 100 CPU can easily emulate the SNES...so surely our 400 MHz Axim's can do it. It's simply a matter of somebody creating streamlined software to do it.
well until Intel releases the xscale sdk, don't expect any to come out.
and please don't fall for that overclocking program that I've seen a few fall for in hopes of making the emulators improve.
try adjusting your settings, you should be getting about 30fps under normal conditions on a rom, and 7fps under heavy usage.
Check your settings and make sure you are not on Power Saver for the processor. I am playing FF4 and walking around I get 30 fps and when fighting I get 7 fps.

Which version of bleeding edge are you using? I tried the most recent one, and my pda freezes when I try to boot the emulator. I end up having to do a soft reset. I'm running the emulator off a CF card... could that be an issue?

For optimum performance you shouldn't run it from the CF or SD card because reading from the cards eats up extra CPU% and is slower.
TWSFC is an SNES emulator that runs at acceptable speeds. I would estimate that it's generally twice the speed of PocketSNES. Unfortunately, the display is screwed up when you run the emulator on the Axim - it's supposed to draw in landscape mode, but it stays in Portrait mode.
The author of the emulator is Taiwanese, I believe. But it seems that there is still development under way.
