Question CF and Games

HI all~

I was wondering something; I have a 64 mb CF card and was thinking of loading games on it. I was thinking it would free up space on the internal drive space of my Axim 5x. Is this theroy of mine true? If so what games wouldn't fit on this card?
Also what are most sizes of games for the Axim? Any insite would be greatly appreciate.

Richard

Most games I play are between .5 and 3 mb, not exceeding 5 mb. I wouldn't be worried about not being able to fit a entire game on a 64 mb card. It would free up the internal drive space, but the games might run slower.

it will work fine.
Dont know about the performance difference though.. since more virtual drive space means more ram and more ram can mean more speed right? The worse that can happen is loading takes a bit longer.

I try to install everything to my SD card (CF card is used for music and stuff I don't need when I am using my WIFI card). There are a handful of games that will install to RAM no matter what - it's in the programming. Everything else runs just fine. Loading can take a little longer, depending on the size of the game, but it's nothing that's unbearable - only a couple of seconds.

Thank you all

Thanks, I was just thinking because it would make sense to free up the space for something that really needs the built in memory.

If the program is not a system or basic operational program (like RegKing for example) or does not specify that it has to be installed a certain way I put it on my card. I try to keep as much memory free as I can. Have not run into any problems yet.

If you are looking for games that won't take up space there are games such as Age Of Empires, Sonic, Sim City, arcade games, and other stuff like encyclopedias and dictionaries which are actually on a multimedia card, much like files on a cd, they are sold at like bestbuy and compusa. They are nice because they are on a card, and you don't have to worry about deleting file on computer on accident or something.
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I had all of my games loaded on ROM until I got my card, then switched them all (what a pain in the ass).

Anyhow, they play just fine, that's not an issue. The only issue is when you go into the games folder for the first time after a reboot, it basically has to scan the card for the images etc and takes a moment for all of them to load.

So load up your card, otherwise, there's always that extra built in storage - I decided to put my SNES ROMs there.
