LDW Software Releases Plant Tycoon

LDW Software has released their first PPC game, which is a port of Plant Tycoon.

I helped with the beta of this game and was surprised to see how often I was turning on my PPC to check on my plants. LOL The concept is pretty simple, but the game itself is complex. The official description of the game follows. If you are interested in the game AND interested in a 50% discount, check my announcement on the front page for a discount code.

Plant Tycoon is a real-time gardening sim where you breed and grow exotic plants while you search for the 4 Magic Plants!
With Plant Tycoon you will have a chance to test your gardening and business skills at the same time! You start with a couple of dollars, a handful of seeds, some soil and water. Grow plants, organize and harvest seeds. Monitor the plants health, age and maturity and be careful of dehydration and infestations. Sell some of your creations to fund your research and to invest in supplies and improvements: better soil, experimental chemicals or a fountain for your nursery!

The object of this game is to discover the 4 MAGIC PLANTS. Each magic plant will give you permanent enhancements and abilities that will bring fortune and fame to your Nursery. You will discover these magic plants by cross-breeding plants and solving the genetic riddle.

FEATURES:

A new original Tycoon Game for Pocket PC
Gorgeous graphics
Strategy - Adventure - Puzzle all combined in one unique game!
Multiple approaches to solving the game are possible
Different levels of difficulty
3 levels of game speed
REAL TIME GAMING: the game goes on whether you are playing or not---or even while your Pocket PC is off!
Always new surprises waiting for you in your lab when you turn on your device!
Discover from hundreds of possible breeds
Cross-pollinate plants and develop beautiful exotic new species
Feed, water and experiment with plants in your lab
Do you have a Green Thumb?
There are only two truly infinite things, the universe and human stupidity; I am unsure of the former.

how is the power consumption?

ie, if you forget to pause the game and fell asleep, is it going to kill all batteries?

I have downloaded the demo and trying it out... will see how it goes.

On their site, it state the discount is good till mid august, so I am in no hurry.

too many games to play, too little time. I still have not finish EQ1 and was thinking about Warring Nations but this seem like a cool little game like those tomaguchi thing, fun to have around but doesn't take too much effort (except to check and water? (assuming one has no aspiration to find the magic plan)).

LOL, Cheryl. That is what I told my Mumm. That is one reason why I like the speed settings. You can change it to fast, slow, normal, or pause it (which is good for busy days at work). As for power consumption, I leave it on a lot of times and just turn my PPC off, and haven't noticed anything major with the battery draining.

ya, I had the speed at fast and woke up to only 3 living plant...

I still am not sure the time required to do and keep track of all the experiments... seem somewhat tedious... The developer recommended in some thread that it may be best to keep track of the various combination with pen and paper... urg...

then there is the other strategy of just "free style" I suppose and make tons of money selling all sort of weird plants and then just buy your way to the magic plants with mutation thingy...

still undecided due to the administrative work required to be "good"...

that fishy thing seem more interesting... or the pet.. they should port that.

Cheryl, I did manage to randomly get one of the magic plants. LOL Right now I am not aiming for the magic plants, I just like to combine them to see what I get.

Mikop, they are just about to start development on Fish Tycoon, and I am trying to talk them into doing a Pocket Pet. I've been waiting forever for a virtual pet kind of game.

I'm a railroad tycoon fan myself, but I guess that would be too much to hope for.
There is a certain time and place for spontaneity.
