All,
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of Angband for the X3i?

Thanks for the help, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. Copied the file to my hard disk. Dragged into 'my documents' on the axim. Opened from the Axim, get error message "Angbandec.PPC_ARM.( is not a valid Windows CE Setup file.

Regards,
Allan

What is the file extension? Have you tried running it on your PC? Unless it's a CAB file you'll almost certainly need to run the setup on your PC and let ActiveSync install it to your Axim.

Sorry I didn't mention it before (but then I didn't port it or create the PPC files either, heheh).

Anyway, the CAB file you downloaded is just like a ZIP file. It's not really a PPC setup CAB file like you're use to. Don't ask why but it's just that way. LOL.

Unzip it (use WinRar or Winzip or whatever). You'll come out with another CAB file that's about half the size of the original. Copy THAT one to your PPC, run it, and voila.

I have had problems with it on newer PPC's, as this AngbandCE has not been shall we say...worked on in a while. Would be good if someone updated the code. Anyway, the shortcut may have problems initializing so if that happens you'll need to run the file directly from its folder.

Well, they are similar games in many ways.

But I'll answer that question in the context of how does it compare on a PocketPC...

NetHack plays a LOT better on the PocketPC than Angband.
The main reason is that the NetHack CE port is still being maintained. The Angband port is quite old.

I suggest picking up NetHack if you don't have a preference for either one yet as it works well right out of the box.

Thanks all. Couldn't get Angband to play ball; tried Nethack instead. Perfect!
Thanks again. :approve:
