I think it depends on what kind of games you like more. I usually do not like strategy games. I did not like SimCity, but I loved Age of Empires. Which is kind of funny since the part I like on Age of Empires is building the empire. :crooked: I think one thing is that Age of Empires is easier to learn on the interface. Also, it has more expandability and play time since you can download user made levels for the PC version and play them on the PPC.

I prefer Age of Empires. It's cool watching the people working/fighting/hunting/etc. I got Sim City first and still haven't got the stupid thing figured out.
I've got both, but I don't have a serial for AOE yet so I'm still playing the demo. SimCity is very nice, but I would have to say the graphics and sound for AOE are pretty amazing.
Of course after you beat a game like AOE you are pretty much done with it. SimCity is a game that you can always go back to because it will be different every time.
I don't really know anything about the user levels that you can download (probably because I'm using the demo), but I think AOE is a little easier to get use to. If you try and play SimCity in a moving car you will get frustrated because it is hard to pick the right cells. Heck, sometimes it is hard to get the right ones if your sitting at your desk.

I still haven't started any of the game levels in AOE because I enjoy playing custom games. I just create a game with the prefs I feel like and play it out. I don't think either of these games lose value after you "beat" them.

What are the different ways you can customize games? Can you customize a game just for the civilization building?

I have both as well and I think AOE has the edge here, but both games have a lot of replayability. Simcity can be a little frustraing because the size of the hex grid makes it easy to make costly mistakes even when you are zoomed in all the way.
I have always loved the AOE series on the PC, and the PPC version is an awesome port of it..
