SNES emulator
There's alot of threads on NES emulators (I use PocketNester, which is awesome), but when I tried an SNES emulator (PocketSNES), it was INCREDIBLY slow. Not even the smallest ROMs would play in real time, and the larger ones (like Doom) are downright nasty.

So firslty, what if any, SNES emulators do you guys use? And secondly, why the heck is PocketSNES so dang slow? 300 MHz should be more than adequate to play games designed to run on a <4 MHz 256 color console. =P

Which PocketSNES are you using? I am using PocketSNES Bleeding Edge and it works well. It does not run full speed, of course, but it runs quick enough to play the games I want to play, which are the older RPGs. I am not sure about other genres. There is a technical reason for the inablility to play full-speed SNES games, but I don't remember what it was. I am sure someone on here does, though, and can explain it more fully to you.
Anyway, I have a 400 MHz, and with Bleeding Edge while playing FF4, I get 7 fps when fighting and 29-30 fps when walking around.

The snes had seperate graphics and sound chips, and alot of games had additional co processors in the cartridge... the xscale has to do graphics/sound/everything on the xscale core, its deffinatly possible to run snes games full speed, but will require decent code to be woven

That's the emulator I'm using, that sounds about like the fps I'm getting, too. Its far too slow for me to play. Maybe your extra 100 mhz is enough for you to get decent framerates.

Anyone else have any input?

try overclocking ur 300 mhz, use tubro tray 498, i see some pretty good results. i forgot the link to it, im sure some1s got it.
ur axim might lock up if u try changing speeds to 498 mhz, just run the program and press ok. this will allow atleast 400 mhz. for some reason my friends basic axim will not go past 400 mhz but mine will.

have fun
