I downloaded EQ the 2nd night I had my Dell and after 2 weeks I have finished the first episode, so i thought I post my thoughts for any that might be interested in getting the game. First, I played EQ for the PC for about a year so I was a bit familiar with the layout although it is not overly complicated. I played at the the easy level (2nd easiest out of 4) and found the play to be fairly quick with little downtime to heal/regain mana. Fights seemed a little on the easy side and I could typically handle anything that was thrown at me. Quests were compelling enough to keep me interested although nothing was overly taxing. It took about 8-10 hours to complete all the quests for my charater and Sony is planning 2 more "episodes" to add to the story. They have also just offered a free downloadable zone to play in until the next zone comes out. I plan to try my luck at some other characters (you can have 4) to see what a warrior, wizard, etc would be like and to adventure some areas I quickly passed in my haste to finish during my first trip. On a side note I had no technical problems with loading or playing the games and found a forum on Sony's website for any problems. Based on what I saw the response seemed to be fairly quick.
Anyway enough of my rambling, I recommend the game to anyone that likes the genre. Also can anyone else recommend a similar game for the PPC?
Not sure if this is anything you might be interested in, but I thought I would at least post it for you. It's called Dragon's Breed. Just found it myself so I don't know how good it is.
I have personally been afraid to try EQ for the 4 years it has been out becasue o fwhat ive seen it do to people. I purchased Ruins of Kunark when it first came out in 99 and tried the 30day trial. Unfortunately, back then, choosing a server to play on was very crude and I ended up in a PvP (Player vs Player) server. Of course I got killed instantly and it was no fun. So I put it off for another 2 years. So I finally just recently decided to try it again. And I can say nothing more then I put 7 hours a day into my character.
I have yet to try the PPC version, but am very excited about it. I think I might wait for all 3 episodes to come out and then try it.
I have nothing but good things to say about EQ for the PC, but I have yet to try the PPC version. I hope it is as good as the PC version.
I wasted 1.5 years of my life ... 6pm-2am playing the online version.... had a 51 Warrior that kicked butt ... Top of the line Armor and Weaps .... Was a very well funded Warrior ( EC Peddler ) -- Well anyhow - I MISS IT BADLY, but I did not know when to log off --- so now, NONE !
I do want to try it on ppc, but funds are low atm ....

I preordered Dragon's Breed just for the novelty of raising dragons. Took me awhile to get used to it because there is no manual. Also, there are a few problems with the Dell, and it crashes every so often. Not to mention since I had to go to an ftp server to download it, which does not exist anymore, I have no idea how to get updates.
I do have Everquest for the PPC and I love it. I cannot wait for the other two episodes, and hope that it is successful enough that other companies will follow their lead.
If you are interested in RPGs, you might want to check out http://www.crimsonfire.com. I have both Solskia (which isn't finished yet but is still good) and Kyle's Quest 2. I am still waiting for Kyle's Quest Classic to come out for the PPC. It has been released for Palm but not for PPC yet.

I tried EQ for the first time last night. All I can say is "wow"! It took me a little while to figure out how some things work but only because there is so much you can do :) This game is a lot of fun! And best of all, when your character dies you don't lose your experience pts! :)
Never played PC EQ, but I did play a lot of Anarchy Online. I also play a lot of console RPGs, including Phantasy Star Online. I picked the retail version up when I was at Best Buy getting a CF memory card. I am impressed so far, but I've only played about an hour. I'm lovin my new Axim. :)
One thing I noticed, it seems the buttons are assigned differently than the tutorial showed.

Ya, that's what I'm doing. I didn't realize at first that you could get to all the menus from the touch screen. Pretty cool!! :D
I've got to say...I've been playing Phantasy Star 4...again...and as much as I love it, because I do....and I would be a 7hr a day guy as well.......but here's my vantage point: I get frustrated sometimes @ LIFE.....no stop and save!!! I do so well at RPG...isn't it the best? Can we put this mastery of fantasy into functionality in the real world? Am I just thinking WAY TOO MUCH or what do you think?
