Well, I just did a little test with Madden 2005 on my new "used" X3, and the good news is that you can drop Madden 2005 in different PDAs and it works like a charm. This is REALLY a good thing...portable software.
If they put a lock on the program to keep you from copying it, I'm okay with that. Software traditionally only legally allows for one use of the product; although it has recently been stated from several companies that an individual can legally use a piece of software on their home computer and their own personal notebook computer when they go to work (with the idea that they are only using the software in one place at one time). MakeMusic! software gives you 2 licenses...one for your desktop, one for your notebook. That's a huge incentive to me.
The problem with your strategy for Madden 2005 is that you are looking to use the same game in two devices at the same time, and clearly, that's not the intent of the card. I'm glad they found a way to keep that clear, yet keep the game transferrable. Sure, someone will crack the code eventually (some people have fun doing that), but until them, I'm okay with the idea that you need to pay $30 (on sale) for a second copy of the game.
