Quake? Descent? TransportTycoon?

Those who know me know I'm big on retrogaming on various platforms; havingf just picked up this ol' X50v I figured I'd take a looksie at PocketQuake and PocketDescent (I ported Quake and Descent to Palm OS after all ;)..

PocketQuake runs fine (I think), but I only get a white screen above the control buttons; I dont' think I tired it with Picards 1.10 driver or the like mind you. I didn't get any errors like some others reported.

Anyone get Pocket Quake going?

Is PocketDescent or another Descent project around?

Transport Tycoon Deluxe?

I'll have to try Warcraft or Master of Magic in PocketDOS sometime..

Any good websites for retrogaming on Pocket PC?

I'll check; however, with PocketQuake you'll note it didn't work when I tried it; a blankscreen sounds like a GAPI error more than a VGA one (VGA would just garble it if anything) so wondered if anyone had any success :)

u can use the gapi driver fix from picard (the one who wrote betaplayer) - check for the pinned post on top of this forum

I'll give it a shot when I get home (I'm not yet carrying the Axim; waiting for a nice Sena case to show up, and still got a half dozen other gadgets in pocket :P) .. hopefully that'll work; shoudl be interesting :)

It is unfortunate this thread was moved to "games", since it is specifically about X50v.. ah well :)

I tried both enhanced mode sin picard 1.10 and both do not work with PocketQuake; which is to say, PocketQuake doesn't work with the X50v at this time :( Maybe I'll get a chance to look into it, but heres to hoping someone else does.. too much on the plate already :)

I play pocket quake all the time on the X50v. Runs fine and fast! Its nice since it also works landscape and stylus. I move with the D pad shoot with the center button and amim and look/move with the stylus. However, I cant get Quake II working though. Actually, I cant figure out how to install it.

Which version are you running? Do you have a url to download? I'm using one of the downloads from Pocket Matrix and its a total no-go for PocketQuake. Let me know :)

i think if you want Transport Tycoon you can run the PC DOS version using pocketDOS, although i'm not sure. I could run a few old pc dos games like X-COM using pocketdos & x30

I'm using the latest quake download off matrix and the latest Picard Gapi 1.10. PM me and I'll send you my settings. I think everthing is set to GAPI. There are settings in PQ to select a driver. I think its GAPI on mine. I'm considering buying the full quake to install since it plays very well. It requires a lot of memory though. I have everything installed to RAM. When I get my 2GB Ultra II SD, I will move it to SD and see if it plays as good.

serpa -- sweet; Didn't know there was a change to made in PQ itself. I've got 1.10 Picards installed, set to Enhanced and the 2nd of the enhanced modes IIRC. I've got an old 128MB SD card in there now, so space isn't tight yet. (I'm used to 512MB SD cards on my other devices, but can't wipe those cards yet :P) (SD is cheaper than CF around here..)

transcout -- TTD source was released a couple years ago, so its been ported to numerous platforms, including Pocket PC :)

I have run Trasport Tycoon on my X50v. It runs well in VGA, although the icons are so small they are almost unrecognizable and the program must be installed in main memory.
You must find the original pc version to get the data files.

Geesh, can't go anywhere without people knowing me ;)

So how do you alter the settings in PocketQuake? I run it, and I get the bottom-half UI, and the whitescreen on the top; how do you alter the settingd to use GAPI? I must be missing something incredibly obvious :P Or maybe I need to alter the config files..

Aha, it does work..

I'm using Picards 1.10 where you can go to Settings and set wihch driver its using for GAPI; using the first enhanced mode.

IT starts up and goes to white screen, and the console is all screwed up looking.. but tap in the middle right where the 'console' button normally is a few times and it'll wake itself up and render correctly.

I'm running around the 2nd level now..
