Bejeweled 2 problems

I played Bejeweled all the time on my Palm OS Sony Clie. I had to update my PDA because of not enough memory in my Clie for some medical programs I wanted on my PDA. After lots of shopping, I bought my Axim x50v and LOVE it.
I installed bejeweled 2 when it cam available on my SD card. It works ok for a while, sometimes a couple of games, sometimes a couple of games. Then it stops working. I reinstall, and go through the same cycle. The latest thing is that I'm now getting messsages that say cannot access saved games and then the program screen disappears.
I haven't paid to register it yet, because I wanted to make sure it works ok. Well, it doesn't, and as much as I enjoy the game I'm getting tired of reinstalling it all the time. Help?

When you say it stops working, what exactly is happening? How much free program/storage memory do you have available?

Oh, and when I say it stops working, the Bejeweled screen disappears and the Home screen appears, without the "start" icon. Sometimes I can get the Start icon back by tapping the calendar, and other times I have to do a soft reset.

I've had the same problem with the program. I hadn't reported it to Astraware yet becuase I thouight it might have been just my iPAQ 4700. Now that I see it is also happeing on the Dell, I guess I will send in a bug report. You should do the same. I have the paid version and I love it, but it is frustrating to loose your statistics when you have to reinstall.

This is SO odd. Both Cheryl and I beta tested, and never encountered this problem.

Just out of curiousity, are you using anything like OzVGA to get into "true" VGA mode?

Hello Raynne413, no I am not using OzVGA or SE_VGA. SE_VGA was installed on my device at one time, but I recently did a hard reset and reloaded all my preferred applications (listed in View My PDA). One time it happened, the device had shut down because I had left it unattended for longer than 5 minutes. When I turned the device back on and started the game I got a message that Bejeweled had suffered an internal error and had to close and my device locked up. After a soft reset, I would get either the suffered internal error and/or unable to find saved games message or, sometimes, when I would launch the application, the Bejeweled splash screen would come up, the loading program bar would move as the porgram loaded, but when complete the screen went away and the programs screen returned. The other times were during game play when switching between modes (Classic and Puzzle I beleive) with similar results. Each time required a remove/re-install of the application.

I posted your problem at the astraware beta forum, so hopefully they will be able to find the problem.

I share your pain with bejeweled 2. I have an axim x50v and it seems when I get a high score going it "poofs". I've had zero issues with other software running on the x50v

No, I'm just using whatever came on the Axim x50v.

Thanks Raynne413, I also signed up to Astraware forums and replied to a thread in the Bejeweled2 forum where someone tried to (I think) describe what we're talking about here. I haven't checked there yet to see if they need more info yet. Thanks -Mike

I too am now having this problem with bjweld 2.
and have jsut installed memmaid to see if that will help.
but i had uninstalled and reinstalled as well, only to have it go poof, and mess with my start menu too.
it comes up with an error saying it cannot create saved games
then another to contact the support team.

they have just emailed me this morning here is their response:

We recently isolated a few possible causes for this, and have been working on a update to Bejeweled 2 to fix them, which should be available on our site very soon indeed (in fact, tomorrow morning!). The problems were in fact caused by a bug in the memory management of Bejeweled 2 that could cause it to run out of available space after a period of time, which is why it would occur even though you had ample memory space at the start :( Losing the Start menu button was indeed related to the problem, so fixing this memory issue will also prevent the other from happening!

Normally I'd offer to send you the files directly for the update, but as I mentioned the update will actually available on our website tomorrow :) You shouldn't need to uninstall the version you have at the moment, it should install over the top of your existing version just fine. However, I would recommened performing a soft reset before installing it, just to make sure your device is at it's best :) (I have an hx4700 myself, and I know both devices tend to suffer from "staying awake" too long!)

Warmest regards,
Kieren
