For multiplayer, try http://www.olmichess.com/ (free) You'll need to register for FICS at www www.freechess.org

If the link doesn't work you can just search google for it. If you (or anyone else) is interested in purchasing a chess game, I'd recommend ChessGenius - it's brilliant. IntelliChess, on the other hand, looked great on the screenshots but I found it far too slow!
