Couple of questions...
1) Is this still under development? It's a fantastic piece of software, but there were some minor issues that could use fixin'
2) Does anybody know if it's compatible with the x51v / WM5? I've got one showing up in the next week or so, and would love to keep playing SNES classics on the bus..

1.Tala no longer does development anymore on the Pocket PC but now does development on the Sony PSP. He is now known as Thunderz
and he now has 2 other people helping him make a cool program (which I have on my PSP right now) called SnesTYL. Check it out:
http://files.pspupdates.qj.net/cgi-b...0,0,0,0,4,1136
2.There's very little difference between the X50v and X51v when it comes to the GFX chip they both use. In theory, PocketSnes OpenGL|es should work on the Axim X51v...

I have uploaded the file here.
How to install:
>un-zip the downloaded file.
>Copy the Pocket SNES file from your PC to PPC; put it in the place that you store your programs.
>To create an icon on your PPC; open File Explorer and go to the Pocket SNES file and select copy, then go back to "My Device" and into the Windows folder and then "Start Menu" and Programs, then paste a shortcut in the folder that you want it to be in for your Programs menu.
Also for this program to work you have to have the X50v as it is optomised for it's graphics card.

I changed the download to my university account, a lot more bandwidth! This should stay up indefinetly.
Download PocketSNES for OpenGL|ES here:

I don't know how I stumbled across this thread, but I am so glad I did. I've been wanting to try out emulators and because of this thread and the contributions of my fellow Aximsite peeps...I've been rockin' Street Fighter 2 Turbo on my Ax all day!!! :approve: Sure the button layout sucks but who cares...this s**t is cool. I also stumbled across Pocketnester for NES games. Pro Wrestling and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out......
I luv this site :)

I tried this on my x51v and it came back and told me that I need an x50v and then quit. Apparently the hardware detection codes need to be updated.

Interesting read... Would there be any issues with running the software on an x51 instead of an x51v?

I love the performance increase but if you turnoff your device when the emulator is running it will all go bad, unlike the non-OpenGL version

this is very cool! I got sucked into chrono trigger this morning :) now will have to try a few more games.... mostly rpg as those are my favorites, wish there was a way to not have to put the device into landscape mode though before starting...

Thats not correct. I dont even know i guy named Thunderz. As a matter of fact, my work occupied most of my spare time this year, so i sadly had not much time to do any development outside work.

Well, i put some device detection code into PocketSNES, which prevents it to run unless you have an X50v device. In theory i can simply add the X51v to the known device list. However i cannot test, if it really works flawlessly(maybe some OS related issues here) because i only have an X50v.

That is strange, infact i have some code in place, which detects the current orientation and should behave properly upon user initiated orientation changes, while the emulator is running.
Tala
ps. Nice to see people still enjoying this emulator :)
