So at this point there are no on screen controls, right? Is it difficult to control using the standard buttons?

I can't believe I just got to trying the latest version of this fantastic emulator yesterday. Actually, I thought I had the latest version until yesterday...

Anyway, I tried out that landscape option with FS 1 sync'ed thing and it was amazing! Though the frameskip counter's off you can tell every game is running rull speed at 30FPS! Most games even ran fullspeed on "normal" CPU setting (520Mhz)!!

The only thing is sound doesn't seem to work well with it (it runs much much slower, desync'ed and not as smooth when sound is enabled). But this doesn't bother me at all since I listen to my favorite tunes in the background most of the time when gaming anyway.

I'm really really impressed by the great work you put in to PSNES, Tala, as now that I can play my favorite SNES games full speed (at 520Mhz; this includes Chrono Trigger ;)) for much longer! I suggest everyone try this emulator out RIGHT AWAY! :approve: Just remember to uncheck "sound emulation" and "sync sound" in the sound options and make sure they stayed unchecked when you load up your ROM (sometimes they check themselves... I don't know why).

New Version 01-27-05

-fullscreen portrait mode along with synchronized screen refresh with frameskip 1
-onscreen buttons for landscape mode (similar to fpsece)
-autofire
-some bugfixes

Onscreen Controls and Autofire can be configured via options/buttons.

Tala

ps. Please let me know how it works and of course i am always interested in fixing bugs you may encounter.

Woohoo! New version! Thanks a lot Tala! I'd try it out right now if I didn't have exams in a day and a half. :/

I get excellent FPS without sound, Keep up the good work.

Shame about the fiddly Axim x50V buttons.

I noticed some issues:

I changed to 'landscape right' in WM2003se and then changed to 'landscape' in pocketSNES 01-27-05 version. Then started it up.

I then wanted to change the settings for the 'on-screen' controls. I reversed the 'top-right' and 'bottom-right' settings and hit 'OK'. Then I un-paused the emu. Then I noticed something odd; the d-pad settings were now in portrait mode! Up was left, ect. I would not let me change back. I had to do a soft-reset to fix problem.

Also, is there a way to take the 'softness' out of the screen? Like a check-box for that setting?

How about a setting for a default rom directory? Maybe a way to remember the last 5 roms loaded? How come the 'sync sound' check-box cannot be checked by default?

Just some thoughts and questions. Thanks for the hard work. :)

Ok I just tried running it, but I see no on screen buttons...what am I missing?

*Edit - I got it now...I was in true vga and I couldn't tell what the small image was next to the on button settings. I switched to normal to troubleshoot and in doing so I could clearly see where on the screen I was supposed to touch.

This is way too cool...thanks!

I have rewritten parts of the button handling, such that it works with the WM2003SE landscape switcher. The old code still in place, reverse the settings when you change the ingame orientation mode. I will remove the menue entry for changing orientation alltogether next version to avoid this problem.
In the end you only have to switch to landscape via WM2003SE and everything should work as expected.

I can try to switch to pick the nearest sample. But i see not much purpose in inaccurate resampling and thus getting aliasing artifacts.
Besides the image is not "softer" than the original appearence of the SNES game on a TV set back in the days, since i do not use a blurring or block filter but a quite accurate polyphase reconstruction filter (but only with a linear impulse response since that is what OpenGL gives me for "free")

The function i am using at the moment scans the whole device for possible ROMS. Storing the last few ROMs in a history is an idea for the next version :)
Regarding the 'sync sound' check box, i will look into that issue.

Thanks for the feedback

Autofire means that it will continuously push the selected button without your input.. so for shooter games you don't have to hold down the fire button..

Just a question, that's a little bit newbie.
Will de Picard's Tweaked GAPI helps in anything here ????
And if it does, what are the correct configurations ?
(Enhanced Driver + Chip ou En + 2700g)?

Thanks,
Zanonale

please read the entire thread before posting a question that has already been answered. tala has already said "using Picards GAPI driver has no effect. It is a native VGA application now using OpenGL ES for screen rendering."
