Anyone here use FPSEce??

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to rip my PS1 disks into an ISO file. I am using CDRwin to make them into .bin&.cue files, but then what? I want to be able to compress them down to put on my SD card so that I can play them on my X50v.

I went to the FPSEce site and there is a ripping guide, but after the CDRwin part, I get stuck. It then says I have to use PSMplay and another utility, but PSMplay doesn't work with Windows XP. Someone, please help.

if your SD is big enough then do not compress the ISO : that will slow the game a lot
you can try to rip FMVs using CDmage as said on the guide from pdai.org
I hope you will succeed because after the X30h becomes a true gaming handheld 'console'

see you

That 'guide' is using CDRwin NOT CDmage. My original post says that I am stuck on the PSMplay part of the process.

Last night, I tried something. I made the .bin/cue from Ridge Racer4. I then compressed the .bin using PocketISO 1.0 and using [bz] compression. I then transferred the resulting files to my SD card.

I started up FPSEce .093 and the bios booted up! Ridge Racer4 wouldn't start unless I checked the 'fast boot' option. Now it works, but it is very jerky. What is causing this? The FPS counter shows about 24fps. It is not very playable, even on frameskip 6.

So, is that what I do? I don't need PSMplay or PSXLDR to rip my disks? Is it better to NOT compress the .bin? How do I take the .bin/.cue and make an ISO out of it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

if you dont compress it will take more memory but will (or at least should) run a lot faster :)
just use alcohol_120% or anything like that to make a .iso file ;)

see you

BTW: CDmage can be used to remove FMV from a ISO file without changing the 'layout' of the image...(some games need the ISO to be the same as the original game)

You mean that I look at the contents of the CD and find the .bin and extract THAT .bin file to RAW format? Only the .bin file?

Also, after I use ISObuster, then what? Can I just compress the ISO (I heard .z is best) or should I leave as-is, providing I have the free space? Do I need to use PSMplay or PSXldr?

I compressed by .bin of Crash2 and Crash Bandicoot Warped using .bz and pocketISO 1.0. Ran on FPSEce .093. The framerate sucks. Maybe 5-7 fps. Music plays good though. How do I get the framerate up? Is the 'frameskip' the ONLY resource for performance?

Another thing, PocketISO 1.1 has option for 'rip all videos'. What is that good for? Do I need it?

Sorry about all the questions, but I am a big emulation fan and this is the only emu I have yet to figure out. Someone should create a FAQ. later... :)
