XBOX games for Axim X50v

:soap:

Ok, I'm not talking emulators here...why didn't Microsoft Game Studios and the Windows Mobile people collaborate on this???

They could have had a MAJOR competitor for the Sony PSP, and well, you couldn't get better PR than that. BTW, I've never seen TV commercials for Axim X50v or ANY handhelds...What are they waiting for???

:bang: ... Ok, now that that's off my chest, I can calm down a bit.

Dude, how friggin' kewl is this ->

it would be cool, and it would maybe work, but microsoft would rather keep ppcs and gaming consoles separate probably

sorry the sony psp is still way more powerful than the intel 2700g. We are talking about almost 1 million polygon count VS something like 5-7 million count of the psp.

until you can get something like 3-4 million on the 2700g you are not going to see any good looking games. And if you dont have good looking games then you need very powerful games lineup which people are used to already, like the Nintendo DS.

Lets hope intel make a speed revision of the 2700G, From its current 75mhz.

still, pdas are for being a pda....the PSP is MADE FOR GAMING

pdas can play games, but they were not totally designed as a gaming device

Regardless. After playing Stuntcar Extreme and Solterra, I can say that it would have been a huge slap in the face to Sony if Microsoft released a "mini-Halo" as an SD Card game. Even if it isn't the "full XBOX experience."

Sorry to anyone who disagrees, but this would have been a DEVASTATING business move.

Joss Stone is in all the pictures of the Axim X50v (see "MyPDA") why didn't she have a single or two from that album pre-loaded into the "MyMusic" folder to get people listening to her music?

Does anyone have some Ibuprofen? It's painful to be this smart.

I see your point.
Man.. imagine if they had Halo pocketpc with multiplayer? Make it 2D top view or something and online I bet people would buy ppcs just to play ^_^. Then again there are so few online/lan games that I doubt it will happen despite the fact that we have the hardware and connectivity built in.

yup, that would be smart on their side, but who knows, they may come out with a straight handheld for gaming soon (to compete with the DS and PSP) :)

Hey Guys,

I have to say its an interesting point BUT I find the whole gaming experience on the PDA is always limited by the Controls . There needs to be some sort of plugin controller (bluetooth??) Available for the device and suddenly games would be so much better.

Regards

Agree about the controls. I know you can adjust the repeat rate or whatever with the directional control which should ease up some of these limitations...but I haven't tried.

It seems like the games could temporarily adjust the settings for the control to optimize the playability. I know that it's REALLY tricky to control Stuntcar Extreme and Solterra. Men have walked on the moon - I'm sure there's a way to solve this problem.

Bluetooth controller isn't a bad idea, but the best thing about a handheld video game is that you don't have to set it down to play it... Especially if you've got a touch screen for DS-like controls.

I'd be way more interested in Bluetooth linking to other devices for multiplayer action.

All of this seems so common sense to me! Microsoft never thought about this?!

MS is affiliating (sp?) its self with a handheld unit, but its not going to be an all out handheld effort. I think they are just going to develope a few games for the unit. It was in this months issue of CGW or one of the mags I get.

Terrible mag by the way. Very biased toward Japanese gaming, just like GMR and a few other gaming mags.

Anyway, it would be nice to see MS do some developing for the PPC version of D3D when its released.

Lets all be rational about this. Yes... we are all excited that the Dell Axim X50v currently has the best gfx chip on any handheld (this is excluding the PSP, I'm talking about the Pocket PC branch people... stay focused!) Don't let us over emphasize it's power. Could the Dell Axim X50v handle Half Life(not source)... maybe. Can it handle quake 3... probably not... it still can't play quake 2. Can it have xbox games on this handheld... most likely not right now. Currently the Axim X50v is having trouble with FPSEce and no one seems to be able to make even an N64 emu playable on here. If it cant do An N64 Emu... think about it... Xbox... noo. PSP games... no. How about Nintendo DS... maybe but little effort has been done to the windows version so a port wouldn't be smart right now. The Axim X50v's Intel 2700 is a wonderful work of art that other pocket pc's should mimic in the future. It's too early to tell what Gfx chips and Pocket Pc's will be doing right now but I cross my finger for a better future to come... growth maybe;)...

I could hang with a gamepad that snapped on the Ax.

Cheers
