X50v's Best Game using the Intel 2700!
After months of deliberation and arguments, Mr.X from the Pocket Matrix Forum's has specifically ported a certain game to fully utilize the Axim X50v's Intel 2700 gfx chip, pushing out every juice it has!
Before I tell you what it is we must eloborate the top 5 programs that kinda utilize the Intel 2700:
1.Pocket Solterra , Now the Second full game on the X50v- http://www.blacksmithstudios.com/
2.Yeti3d Gone Open GL- http://www.intuitex.com/download/YetiOglDemo.zip
3.PocketSnes by the Elusive Tala- http://ambox.bei.t-online.de/tala/
4.Pocket Enigmo and Stuntcar Racer Accelerated- With Purchase of a Dell Axim X50v
5.Axim X50v demos- http://www.powervr.com/Downloads/Demos/index.asp
I can't hold it in anymore! After going to PocketGamer ( www.pocketgamer.org ) , I found out a new (well kinda) game that will wow anyone who shows it off to others, and yes it is the Axim X50v I'm talking about. Ported EXCLUSIVELY for the Axim X50v from the PC version comes... CUBE!
Check out the link: http://cubeengine.com
Also, Check out the PC screen shots and then these Axim X50v screenshots: http://cubeengine.com/cube_intel_pda/
Go here to download it, if you can't seem to find it on the homepage: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=91993
I highly recommend getting this and it's currently absolutely FREE! Negative right now about it... it's speed resembles Quake 2 (which still doesn't work for the Axim X50v right now), it goes a little over 10fps which seems only playable by a few people... but the programmer of this lovely piece of work said he will optimize it soon. So try it out anyway, I absolutely love it ;)! Thanx Mr.X!

HOLEY COW!!!
Man, never heard of this, but that looks freakin sweet!!!
What the heck, why hasn't anyone mentioned this yet?
I'm going to be trying this ASAP!!!
ps I've never seen that Crytek stuff before!!! The 2700g can do normal mapping?!?!?!?!?! If so this thing will BLOW AWAY THE PSP AND DS!!!
If anyone doesn't know what normal mapping is, its taking super high res textures and making them low res with almost no loss in visual quality. Very cool and very good looking. I'll crap if the x50v can render QIIIa+ quality games with normal mapping.

Nice find, but 10 FPS??? If that is true, then that is a good reason to get a PSP.

I ran the game and tried it out for a while, looks pretty good but it does get a bit choppy when there are a lot of guys on the screen. However, there were no optimizations made at all to the porting, so there's a long way to go and I'm sure it can get much better in terms of framerate etc.

I'm having a problem. I DL'ed the OpenGLes version and transfered it to a folder on my SD card (after unziping). When I click on the exe file it says something about it being a wrong application. Like the message you get when opening an PPC exe file on a PC.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
ps those PowerVR demos are very beautiful. The normal mapping on that statue is amazing.

Mr. X didn't port Cube. Intel did...
And it runs slow because it's just a straight, proof-of-concept port ATM with no optimizations.

How is playability? I put doom on my PDA, but it was absolutely no fun as playing with a D-Pad blows. I guess I'd need to get a keyboard to play in the "W A S D" that I'm accustomed to.

Doom is fairly intuitive with the stylus. Quake I also rocks pretty hard on my x50v. I think the price is kind steep for the full version though. This game looks superb. If it runs like this as a straight port, then I can't wait to play the optimized version.
Cheers.

I still can't get it to run.
Can someone give me simple instructions on how they are installing it please.
I just unzipped it and drag and dropped it to my SD card. Also tried main memory, but get an invalid file error.
Any ideas?
edit: common guys, you got it running, let me in on the secret please.

This is an EXCLUSIVE game only for handhelds utilizing Open GLES.
X50 mid doesn't even have a gfx card to show off. So the only handheld able to run this game is the X50v (high) with it's awesome Intel 2700 gfx Chip that still blows all the handhelds away in the gfx department. New gaming ideas are available because of the Axim X50v... I believe Half Life is now possible
:approve: !

I hope this doesn't sound patronising (and I assume you're talking about Cube) - are you certain you've downloaded the right files?
There's no installation required - just what you did. Unzip, copy to a memory card and run the cube.exe.
Mark.

Finally got it to work. Not sure what was happening, but I did a hard reset and it works now:D
