I am going to start some RPGs on the X50. I have the SNES emulator with Final fantasy 3 (9?), Zelda- a link to the past and Chrono trigger. On the ppc side, the alternatives are arvale and legacy. I don't mind the cost. I am looking for two suggestions, based on these preferences. One game to start up for quick sessions, more for the tactical combat and collecting aspects (kinda like icewind dale), the other for a deeper rpg experience with interesting stories, places, etc (kinda like Torment). I know the SNES games are legendary, and I am wondering if I shouldn't even play the ppc ones before I go through those. Here are some other notes: I tried pocket everquest and, like diablo, found it to be too repetitive and simple. It was fun, but if it had more spells than just 8, more variety in the combat, it would have been satisfying.
Please feel free to suggest other games- I mention these because my research has shown these to be the better ones.
Legacy and Arvale are really different to me, although both are RPGs. Legacy is first person view and involves a bit more hack and slash. Arvale is third person. I own both, along with the majority of every other RPG. I would also recommend Green Myst. Legacy has expansion packs, but to my disappointment the developers couldn't add in their own graphics, so it got a bit repetitive. However, for their next game, they plan on changing this.

This is my first post here, i just ordered my x50v today as well as a 4gig microdrive, it is on rush delivery :approve:
I was also looking for some good Rpg's for my new system.. i found a few that were worth a second look, i will post a few links here so that you can check them out.
I havent tried any of these, but they are on my list of games to try once i get my Axim.

Legacy- .. dungeon crawling type game.. has a few expansions looks as if it would be promising.
I don't recommend Shadow Gate unless you have a high tolerance for frustration. I just couldn't keep the stupid torches lit long enough to get somewhere.

No problem. :) Dragon Bane is pretty good, but I never got to finish. I had a hard reset once when I was half way finished, and never got the motivation to start over.

Don't go for Ultima Underworld if you have an X50v. It seemed to work great until the first combat. Everytime I hit something it crashes out. And since the company is no longer around, I'm just screwed.
on the nintendo size, go Zelda!!! i love all the Zelda games and have played all of them (NES, SNES, N64, GC) many times. I'm currently playing Zelda 1 for the NES. I've played both FF3 and Chrono triger and i still like Zelda best, although i think i would take FF3 over Chrono.
As for the PPC side, i'm currently playing Arvale and its pretty good. There are TONS of extra things to collect and it can be a houmours game at times.
Other RPGs I have heard about: (basically, looked at the RPG category on the PocketGear site:
Sorcery
Tower of Souls
Everquest (3 episodes)
Any comments?
Stay away from Sorcery, it was never finished. Tower of Souls looked nice, but I couldn't get away from the gameplay. Anytime you wanted to do something, you had to press a button and then tap on whatever it was that you wanted. Kind of irritating. I enjoyed Everquest 3. However, it can get a bit repetitive and the storyline isn't the greatest. But hey, it's an RPG. :)

How would you compare the SNES RPGs, which are famous, to the PPC RPGs? Are arvale, etc. as good as zelda, etc? I mean, the latter games are famous, the former games are for the PPC, and that's pretty much all I know about them.
Pocket Commodore and copy of Wasteland is all you need. :)

Arvale was good, but it got boring and repetitive. If you like Chrono, then try Zelda Minish Cap for Morphgear. On my X50v with smooth graphic option turned on, it looks like the DS! The story and gameplay is the best.
