First you download the version for the Compaq iPaq here. Then the doom1.wad file, then the doom4ce.wad
Then you need to unzip the downloaded files (go to winzip.com if you need a program for that) and copy the uncompressed files to some where on your axim by opening the 'Mobile Device' in 'My Computer' and dragging the files there.
Opening the file explorer and tapping on doom4ce should start it running.

This link should help you out. You need the .exe and the .wad file(s). All I can find is the shareware wad
|
To get the full version .wads you need to own the full version for the PC, then you can copy the wad from it to the Axim.

Hey guys, I have doomce and it works great. I have the Orginal DOom and Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and they both run great. They can be on a card because I have them on my cf card. I have a question, can i compress these wad files because they r huge, one is 11 they other 12mb? thanks

In order to run DoomCE properly you need:
1) The DoomCE executable (obviously :D)
2) The DoomCE wad file, which must be in the same directory as the other wads that you may have
3) The wad file from a retail game, the shareware, or add-ons
Place the wads in either the same directory, or in My Documents/Doom (in memory, in storage, in card wherever), and you are good to go.......

DOOM4CE
I downloaded DOOM from the JIMMY site above and installed the software they advised (available at site on same page) and put on my CompactFlash. All working no problems on the X5.

Since XScale is an ARM processor, almost all programs designed for one will work for the other as well......dont know if something designed *specifically* for XScale will work on any ARM though.....
As for DoomCE, you download the exe from Jimmy's, install it, find a nice directory for the Doom4CE wad, place any other commercial or shareware wad that is supported (and almost all wads that I know of are supported) in the same dir, and you are good to go......
if it doesnt work, then you have made a mistake, probably in the placement of the wad files......

Same deal, same process. From the exact same site, get the PocketQuake (while you are there, get the PocketWolf as well ;) ), install, drop the wad files that you have on the same dir, and you are good to go.....
You need a bit more memory free for Quake than for Doom, and also dont expect very fast frame rates......around 15 or so, if you have overclocked your Axim to 500MHz, and have a relatively "free" environment......
