I'm trying to import my Everquest episode 1 character into episode 2.

Following the advice given in the posts in this forum I started a new character in Episode2 (Ep2) and then quit the game. I then renamed my Ep1 character files as follows:
PocketEQDarkHeart0.nam to PocketEQE2_0.nam
PocketEQDarkHeart0.sav to PocketEQE2_0.sav

I then overwrote the equivalent files in the Ep2 directory with the renamed Ep1 versions. This is all on my SD card, by the way.

When I start Ep2 I can see the character but when I try to load it the first (blue) loading bar reaches almost to the end and then the program crashes.

New characters work OK in Ep2 and the Ep1 character still works OK in Ep1 so I don't think it's corrupt.

Following a tip given in one of the posts, my Ep1 character is carrying loads of extra equipment, so I tried dropping some of it and then tried to import to Eq2. Same result.
He's level 12 and carrying 118,000 gold. Could this be too much? I could reduce this by repeatedly buying and selling an item, but it seems unlikely that this could be the problem so I thought I'd ask you guys before I do any more trial and error investigations.

Starting a new level 12 character on the hard difficulty level with the puny starting weapons is proving to be a pain, so I'd really like to get my Ep1 character working.

Has anyone had this problem? Did any of you guys who've done this successfully do anything different?

All I did was put PocketEQDarkHeart1.nam and PocketEQDarkHeart1.sav in the "my documents " file of your main memory. I am using my character from episode 1&2 on Episode 3. Works like a charm!

If I just copy the files as you suggest I can't see the character in Ep2. I presume you are running Everquest in main memory?

Did you create a new character in Ep2 before you copied your Ep1 character to My Documents?
