Morphgear Help

Today was my first day actually playing with my little new x30 mid. Of course the first game I loaded onto it would be MorphGear which I've heard 5000 things about :)

Anyway, I downloaded Morphgear and couldnt get it working till I realized that I needed the NES module which I then got and installed. I put up my two old time favorite from back in NES days which was Legend of Zelda and Paperboy.

I then attempted to play the game but it kept saying unregistered, and I couldnt select or start the game. Can anyone help me with this? I had read before (prior to switching over to PPC) that Morphgear was opensourced and therefore no longer needed to pay. Is that not true or did I screw up something? (which is very likely i think)

btw...we can save our unfinished games right? i would hate to play zelda and then have to keep starting over again

hmm...and no one uses morphgear? i thought it was suppose to be a must have software for a ppc? :(

I don't understand the "open source" features when they charge for the modules to play. Guess it was only a stragedy to earn more off it.

My past experience with it was the complete package with all that stuff integrated.

It had save state and in game save support (except for games like Zelda Minish Cap because it used a weird save system)

I don't use Morphgear, so I can't help with that. But, I do use PocketNESter for my Axim and have had tons of success with it. You can save games, and its all free. You can dl it HERE

awdark: my question exactly! if it was open source then why are we still paying to use module...having the program but no module renders the program useless...anyway i dont mind paying for stuff if its good but dunno seems morphgear is misleading :)

To get things stright, when we meant Morphgear going open-sourced, it seems you and a couple others got confused. Being open-sourced meant that you( or anyone who felt up to it) can port any emulator off the computer and integrate it using the Morphgear interface. Thus creating different modules that can be installed individually for anyone who wants it. Like to have snes emulation but don't like the turbo-gfx 16, just grab the SNES Module. This is convenient because of people who want to save space on their pocket pc. Now the only open sourced modules right now (meaning you don't have to pay) are:
SNES
GENESIS
TURBOGFX-16/PC ENGINE
That's all. Marat's "Commmercial" Modules are not free. They never have. Notice my quotations of Commercial. With 4 modules in one, Marat did a great job emulating:
NES
GameBoy/Color
GameGear/SMS
Gameboy Advance(A personal favorite of mine!)
They only recquire to be registered to get them going beyond the 5 minute testing period you are experiencing. $20 for each module is not bad either. In my personal opinion, I only use the gamegear/sms portion of the module because CEGG for pocket pc crashes/goes too fast on the new pocket pc's(X30 included). I also use the Gameboy Advance portion of the module because all the other gameboy advance emulators on pocket pc either:
1.Crash alot
2.Games must be uncompressed (meaning they can't be zipped)
3.Don't have sound
4.Extremely complicated to make them work descently
5.Compatibility list is outdated(meaning alot of games won't even load)
Right now I also use Pocket Nester for my NES gaming:

I use these instead right now because Marat sorely needs to update the sound core. It sounds like a lead pipe beat the crap out of them. Pluses for Marat is that he updates his modules very frequently and soon will be releasing updates to his modules soon (they are already done on the desktop, he just needs to port them on posket pc now:)!) Yes, he fixed his Gameboy Advance sound core though and he also update his compatibility list. Kingdom Hearts:Chain of Memories and Urbz will work now, plus he upt the speed! The GBA part of the module is faster now! So plz register, it would greatly push forward the growing of Marat's modules. He is already porting some code from the nintendo ds into the GBA module(soon to be released), thus meaning one thing.
He'll be making a nintendo ds module soon ;)! That should make things very interesting soon for you all and especially us at Morphgear. Pop by our Morphgear forums if you need any help with anything dealing with Morphgear! So to answer your first question again... GBA, GB/GBC, GG/SMS, NES are not open-sourced(nor free) and they recquire you to register them at an affordable price of $20 per commercial module....

! I meant instead of using Marat's NES and gb/gbc portion of his Morphgear module, I use Pocket Gnuboy and PocketNester instead. Sorry for the confusion.
If marat completes his pocket pc Commercial update, I'll see if those two programs will stay on my Pocket PC... we'll see...

thanks for the explanation! I didnt realized that the module and morphgear was two separate things. Anyway $20 for a good software on pda is not overly expensive considering your playing alot of NES games :)

Anyway, installed PocketNES and it works fine. I'm currently afraid to bring my Axim x30 on my daily commute right now. So i've only been able to tinker for it for an hour at nite...

Hi everyone, maybe someone of you can help me.
I have a problem with Morphgear.
When trying to emulate SNES or GBA ROMs MorphGear is not responding on pressing any bottoms: The Rom is starts running and when I try to select something it's not responding. MorphGear 2.3.0.2. is registered, the middle bottom in cursor keys is not set in configuration.
I tried to install early version, but it doesn't help.
With other emulators like PocketSnes or PocketGBA bottoms works fine.
Maybe somebody had a problem like this

So many people get this problem and the solution is very simple...
Your thread priority is set too high. Go into the Global settings of Morphgear and find "Thread Priority".
Set your thread priority at below normal- above normal, test out which one allows you to be able to still play with your face buttons, and touch screen ones.
