Now distributed as CAB files! Download, copy to device, and install
Added version information to the about box
There are now 2 CAB files, one for PPC2002 devices, and one for WM2003. These install the help files and the program, creating a shortcut under \Start Menu\Programs\Games
If you try to download on your device, you'll get the improper cab file download problem as I don't control the MIME types on the webserver. Use EZDownload or the like to download it, or if sufficient demand, I can zip the CABs.
Cool. You're more than half way to my high. I see your strategy, make me add features and fix bugs while you overtake my score! :hide:
Darn, you're on to me already!

Okay, every suggestion I've come up with to improve an already good game, you've come right back with a new version in an amazingly short time. I give up, you win! :nw:
I've never gotten such fast response on a FREE game, let alone one I've paid for. Thanks for putting this out there for us! :approve:
I appreciate the suggestions and the bug reports. I'm often most limited by my creativity as to how to improve something.
Most of the suggestions and bugs are easy fixes, and luckily I happen to have some time this weekend. The longest part of making it work with PPC2002 was downloading the 202MB eVC 3 installer and SDK over DSL.
I've learned a lot from making this game. I learned how to load resources from DLLs, choose different resources based on VGA/QVGA, move controls when switching to landscape, make a PPC help file, etc.
Generally if there's something I want to do and there's no good way to do it, I'll make it myself if I have time. I have one program in an early stage that downloads a webpage, and displays a list of every link and image from the page. You can select it and then click a download button to grab them. Maybe I'll pick up working on that again sometime soon (or maybe PIE will not suck and let you save links and images.)
Anyways, thanks for your help and kind words. Enjoy the game. Try to beat my 1534 high score ;) and let me know if you think of anything else.
OK.
I've wanted to try creating some of my own PPC SW, but never took the time.
Could you send me (or past) a list of the SW you used to do this, and if you started with anything, like some tutorial or template or something.
I already have done a bit of programming in my life, including other PocketPC and windows programs, so the general stuff I am already familiar with. In fact, I teach introductory Java programming to undergraduates (I'm a grad student.) If you're just learning to program, Windows programming (especially PPC programming) isn't the best place to start.
If you already know a language, you might find it best to leverage that to get into PPC programming.
Nothing can replace a good book, some spare time, and an idea to toy with.
Thank you for this great game! :approve: My high score so far is 627. One feature I would like to see is a number next to the deck that would count down how many cards are left.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Oh, that's simple enough to add. I'll include that in the next build, whenever that happens to be next. Hopefully soon.
I tried to download the cab files directly to my X5 with no luck. When I click it opens a page of a bunch of text. Anyone else have this issue?
I mentioned earlier in the thread that is an issue with the configuration of the webserver, and not one I can fix unfortunately. This is pretty common (apache doesn't handle the CAB file MIME type correctly) so when that happens, I stop the download, copy the url, then launch a program called EZDownload (search for it) which downloads it fine.
If you still have problems, I'll zip the file so it downloads better.
